Korean Inspired Chicken – Panelaterapia

Korean Inspired Chicken

Meat

Today’s recipe has a more oriental “feel”. Ever since I prepared Bulgogi (see here), I’ve been really excited about Korean cuisine and that’s why this spicy chicken It was inspired by the cuisine there.

It’s not a traditional recipe, but it uses ingredients that are widely used by Koreans.

Spicy Chicken Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 chicken breast cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup grated pear
  • 1/2 of onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (shoyu)
  • 1 teaspoon of spicy yellow mustard (you can also use regular mustard)
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of coloring agent
  • 1 stalk of green onion, sliced
  • 150ml of water
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • Salt and pepper according to your taste

Season the chicken with salt and black pepper and sauté in sesame oil until golden. Turn off the heat, but keep the chicken cubes in the pan while you prepare the sauce.

Blend the remaining ingredients (except the chives and sesame seeds) in a blender or mixer. Pour this blended mixture over the grilled chicken cubes and mix well. Keep on low heat until it boils and thickens. If necessary, adjust the salt. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped chives and sesame seeds. It’s very tasty!!!!

Taking advantage of the theme, I imagine that you, like me, must also be curious about Korean gastronomy, so I will reinforce the invitation. Between today and August 15th, the Expo Korea 2014 at the Sheraton WTC Hotel, in São Paulo. An event that takes place for the first time in Brazil and will have many cultural attractions. An incredible opportunity for you to learn a little more about Korean culture and try some of the country’s most traditional dishes, such as Kimchi, Japchae and Bulgogi. The tastings will take place at the Korean Food Foundation stand, the institution responsible for promoting the country’s cuisine around the world.

A great trip to enjoy with the whole family. And the best: all for free!
