These KitKat cakes have been a hit for a while now, but I hadn’t taken the risk yet. I thought it would be cool to share it with you because it’s a cool and very simple idea to make to replace the traditional birthday cake, especially during this time of intense Brazilian heat!
You will need a pan with a removable rim, if you don’t use it you might be able to unmold it, but I wouldn’t risk taking the cake apart once it’s ready. My shape is very small, 18.5 cm in diameter and 5 cm in height. The quantities for this recipe are for this pan size. If you want to make it in a larger pan, that’s fine, but I won’t know how to tell you the quantities, since this is the first time I’ve made this recipe, ok?
The ingredients are:
- 1 pot of ice cream (as my pan is small, I bought a pot of ice cream with 3 flavors and was able to separate them into 3 layers);
- 8 pieces of KitKat chocolate
- 1 package of chocolate-filled cookies
- 4 tablespoons of milk
- Confectionery to decorate (I used M&M)
Start by separating the KitKats in half (they come in blocks with 4 sticks stuck together). I cut about 1/3 of the size of the KitKats to get a good height, if I put them whole the cake would be too tall. Arrange it around the entire rim of the mold. If your city doesn’t have KitKat, you can try it with Bis or another similar chocolate, but I haven’t tested it to see how it turns out.
Grind the cookies in the processor (I haven’t tested it in a blender to see if it works). As each brand of biscuit has more or less moist fillings, add the milk little by little in spoonfuls and grind a little more. I used 4 tablespoons of milk to make the dough moist. Spread the cookie dough into the bottom of the pan and press down with your fingers.
If you’re making just one flavor, just add the ice cream and put it in the freezer or freezer. If you are going to make it in layers with more than one flavor, add the first layer and put it in the freezer to harden well, then add the rest. Always put it in the freezer between one layer and another. Wait for it to harden well (mine spent 8 hours in the freezer). Add the sprinkles and serve. It’s cute to put that traditional ribbon around it, but I’m too much of an “ogress” for so much fanfare!
Oh, it makes 8 portions (considering 2 pieces the size of the one below for each person).
