Singer João Neto, from the duo João Neto and Frederico, announced last Wednesday (16) his diagnosis of thyroid cancer. The artist found out about the disease through routine exams in December last year.
Thus, through a video, published by the duo’s press office, fans found out about the news that João Neto was diagnosed with cancer. On the occasion, the 42-year-old artist made a statement.
“I decided to share this moment of mine with you. It’s a silent disease, I’ve never felt anything at all and I would like to warn everyone to take care of themselves. Carry out routine exams, it’s very bad to be caught by surprise like I was”, he warned.
João Neto must undergo surgery to remove the carcinoma at Hospital de Amor, in Barretos, located in the interior of São Paulo.
“I count a lot on everyone’s prayers, on the positive thoughts of each one of you. I’m going to stay in a hospital that is a reference in the world and, God willing, everything will be fine”, concluded the singer in the video.
Likewise, the advisor also posted a positive message for João Neto. “We wish João Neto a lot of strength and we are sure that he will soon be back on stage bringing joy to our Brazil”.

“Hey guys! All right with you? The matter is a little serious. Every end of the year I usually do all my routine exams, a general check up. And at the end of the year, on December 23rd, I received a not very nice diagnosis. I have thyroid cancer.”
“I’m going to start my treatment now at the Barretos Cancer Hospital, I’m going to need to have surgery to remove the gland and I’m going to need to spend some time in absolute rest, more still, without being able to speak. I’m going to have to face it, there won’t be any other way. I wanted to tell you this.
At first, I thought it was going to be a little invasive, I received the diagnosis at the end of the year, in a moment of celebration and joy. But now I decided to share it with all of you, firstly, because it is a damn, silent disease.”
Finally, he asked: “It doesn’t show any signs, I’ve never felt anything at all. So, we remind you to take care of yourselves and always do your routine exams, because it’s very bad to be caught by surprise like this in something that doesn’t show you. So I wanted to share this with everyone.
