What are eyebrow dyes

This type of paint is one of the pigmentation methods for eyebrows, helping to fill in gaps, darken the hairs or even make them lighter. Some people who have blonde hair and very dark eyebrows, for example, may prefer to reduce this contrast with the coloring.

It is also important to use specific dyes for this region. Hair dyes should not be applied to the eyebrows, as they can cause irritation and allergies in this area, which is more sensitive than the scalp. The substances present in hair dyes can be very aggressive for this area of the eyes, so do not use them on your eyebrows or eyelashes.

The eyebrow dyes have their formula tested and approved by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), so they are safe to use. Furthermore, if you have questions about how to do it, look for someone who is an expert and will know the best way to apply it. Because some steps need to be taken before coloring the region. Let’s talk about this later.

Natural dye, organic dye and henna

There are a variety of types of eyebrow dye. These tinctures have different types of composition and duration. Therefore, you should choose based on how you want your coloring to look. Natural dye is composed of pigments extracted from plants, flowers, roots, vegetables and leaves. Therefore, they are recommended for those who have skin that is more sensitive to allergies, as they are pigments that do not cause irritation.

Organic dye is most used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and tattoo industries. Its composition comes from products such as carbon, wood, wool and paper. Therefore, they are not usually hypoallergenic like natural ones.

There is also henna, which is also widely used as eyebrow dye. However, unlike other paints, it has a shorter durability, coming off after a week, while paints last 15 to 30 days. This is because henna colors the skin and not the hair, which is why it is more suitable for covering flaws. The dye can color the strands, darkening them and giving the impression of more volume.

Advantages of coloring your eyebrows

There are several advantages to coloring your eyebrows depending on what your goal is. You can fill in your eyebrows and cover gaps and, as we said before, henna is great for this. Furthermore, this is a quick and easy process that you can do at home, and it is not definitive. This way, you can see which shade works best for you, whether you prefer a darker or softer dye.

There are also toners that lighten hair. These are often used by people who have blonder or lighter hair and very dark eyebrows. This way, it is possible to reduce this contrast between the hair using eyebrow dye. Furthermore, you can use this form of pigmentation to make your eyebrows more defined.

This type of paint usually lasts 15 to 30 days, in some cases up to six weeks. During application, cover the hairs well, ensuring that the eyebrow is well filled with the dye. Leave less time if you prefer a more natural eyebrow, but if you like them more defined, leave the dye for a few more minutes. Also know that the excess dye comes off during washing, so you will know the definitive result two days after dyeing your hair.

How to apply eyebrow dye

There are several brands on the market and, generally, each one has its own specifications for use on the packaging. However, some basic instructions are always used and it is important to know them before applying eyebrow dye.

The first step is to have the eyebrow design you want, as the dye will not be used to shape the eyebrow. So, take a good look, see if there are any threads that you consider out of place and want to remove and then apply. Then, use a cotton pad with micellar water to remove any impurities from the eyebrow, such as makeup and oil. You can also lightly contour, delimiting the eyebrow well to facilitate application.

Next, you will need the tincture, in powder or ointment, in the second case you will also use volume 10 hydrogen peroxide; a container for the mixture and a small spatula to mix and apply, it can be a brush, toothpick or a flexible rod, in this case, remove the cotton from the tip. Then just mix well 2 centimeters of the ointment with 20 drops of hydrogen peroxide, until a cream is formed. For powder paint, you will use a small amount mixed with one or two drops of water and also mix well.

In paints used to lighten hair, you leave it for up to 20 minutes, and in 5 minutes it lightens 1 tone, in 10, 2 tones and in 20 minutes, 3 tones. When it comes to dyes to darken your hair, the time will depend greatly on the brand of coloring, so pay attention to the instructions on the packaging. While you let your eyebrows absorb the dye pigmentation, take the opportunity to remove excess with a flexible rod. Finally, remove the dye with a cotton pad soaked in water or micellar water.
