Intimate waxing can be more dangerous than you think

Health

According to researchers, at least 1 in 4 people who are adept at intimate waxing have already suffered injuries in the region due to the task.

Do you like to give a “lawn trim” or are you one of those people who insist on staying natural? Although intimate waxing is an intimate subject, the truth is that it has already been the basis of a scientific study, aimed at indicating how dangerous this practice can be.

According to the Human Research Committee at the University of California in San Francisco, in the United States, at least one in four people who perform intimate waxing have been injured in the area. And that’s not all: the more frequent intimate waxing is, the greater the chances of cuts and injuries recurring.

Injuries during intimate waxing

According to the researchers, 7,570 people between 18 and 64 years old were interviewed for the research, 4,198 men and 3,372 women. They all had to answer at what age they started shaving, how hairy they considered themselves and whether they had ever been injured in this task.

It may seem like only you are a clumsy person in life, but that’s not what the research revealed. According to the study’s numbers, 76% of people said they kept everything trimmed, even if sporadically, with 85% being women and 67% men. Of these, 86% almost always did their own work (three quarters of those interviewed) with a razor blade.

Lack of coordination x emergency room

Regarding wounds on the genitals, 27% of women said they had already been burned or cut during intimate waxing, compared to 24% of men who also worried about trimming the lawn. The most interesting thing of all is that 1.4% of them have already been seriously injured to the point of needing to go to the emergency room to get bandages and take medicine, such as antibiotics.

The problem, of course, is one of motor coordination, but it can also put people’s health at risk. This is because private parts are more difficult to heal and bleeding takes time to stop in the case of cuts due to the delicacy of the skin. This, not to mention the risks of contamination and inflammation.

What’s the best way?

Regarding the safest methods of performing intimate hair removal, researchers say it is difficult to make a recommendation. While the razor blade is a cheap option with a low risk of contamination as it is disposable after a few uses, it is the champion in the number of accidents.

Electric shavers, on the other hand, are not the most suitable, even though they don’t hurt as much. This is because they do not give as good a result as the blade.

Hot wax can also cause serious burns, especially if the person does not delegate the task to a professional.

In other words, all methods have their advantages and disadvantages and it is up to each person to be cautious enough with their own rabicó, right?

Now, if you don’t give up your razor blade, it’s better to keep it sharp, right? To do this, you need to check out this other article: How to sharpen your shaving blades and make them last longer.
