1. Barbatimão ointment

Barbatimão ointment can be used on cuts and scrapes on the skin because it has a healing effect on the skin and mucous membranes, and also helps to reduce inflammation in the region, relieving pain and discomfort.

Ingredients:

  • 12g barbatimão powder (about 1 tablespoon)
  • 250 ml coconut oil

Preparation:

Place the barbatimão powder in a clay or ceramic pan and add the coconut oil and heat over low heat for 1 or 2 minutes to even out the mixture. Strain then and store in a glass container that can be kept tightly closed.

To reduce the leaves into powder, simply buy the dried leaves and then crush them with a pestle or wooden spoon, removing the stems. Always use a kitchen scale to measure the exact amount.

2. Aloe vera ointment

Aloe vera ointment is an excellent home remedy for skin burns caused by oil or hot water splashed on the skin. However, its use is not recommended when the burn has formed a blister, because in this case, it is a 2nd degree burn that requires other care.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large aloe leaf
  • 4 spoons of lard
  • 1 spoon of beeswax

Preparation:

Open the aloe leaf and remove its pulp, which should be approximately 4 tablespoons. Then place all the ingredients in a pyrex dish and microwave for 1 minute and stir. If necessary, add another 1 minute or until it is completely liquid and well mixed. Place the liquid in small containers with a lid and keep it stored in a clean, dry place.

3. Arnica ointment

Arnica ointment is great for applying to painful skin due to bruises, bumps or bruises because it relieves muscle pain very efficiently.

Ingredients:

  • 5 g of beeswax
  • 45 ml of olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons of chopped arnica leaves and flowers

Preparation:

In a bain-marie, place the ingredients in a pan and let it boil over low heat for a few minutes. Then turn off the heat and leave the ingredients in the pan for a few hours to macerate. Before it cools, you must strain it and store the liquid part in containers with lids. They should always be kept in a dry, dark and ventilated place.
