How to do intimate hair removal (with wax, razor or cream)

Beauty

To perform intimate hair removal correctly, it is first important to choose the method you want, which can be wax, razor or depilatory cream, and then take all necessary precautions to avoid infections. Total intimate waxing can be harmful and is therefore not recommended. This is because the hair in this region works as protectors, preventing infections.

The method that is normally most suitable for hair removal in this region is the use of hot wax, as the heat dilates the pores, making it easier for the hair to come out. On the other hand, shaving is the least recommended method because it can cause allergies, itching or cuts to the skin.

Waxing the intimate area with depilatory cream is also an option, but you need to make sure that it can be used in this area, which is usually indicated on the packaging.

1. Hot wax

To perform intimate waxing with hot wax, you need to take some precautions, such as exfoliating your groin, about 3 days beforehand, to avoid ingrown hairs and prepare the area for waxing.

The steps to follow should be:

  1. Start shaving in the intimate area from the outside to the inside and from top to bottom;
  2. Apply the wax in the direction of hair growth;
  3. Remove the wax in the opposite direction to hair growth;
  4. Throw away the wax and do not reuse it, to avoid infection;
  5. Apply a post-waxing soothing cream to the area;
  6. Avoid sun exposure 24 hours after shaving the intimate area.

These measures serve to prevent infections, irritation, skin blemishes, burns and ingrown hairs.

Furthermore, to reduce pain during waxing, there are some hot waxes that contain analgesic substances that help reduce pain during the process. Find out more about waxes that reduce the pain of waxing.

  4. Avoid using soap, moisturizer and conditioner, as they can cause allergies;
  5. Apply shaving cream or another product to the area and wait another 2 minutes to soften the hair;
  6. Pass the blade in the direction of hair growth;
  7. Wash the blade after each time you apply it to your skin.

After performing intimate waxing, it is recommended to avoid using the razor on other body areas.

Hair removal with depilatory cream is practical and does not have the same drawbacks as shaving, such as cuts or ingrown hairs. The steps for this type of hair removal are:

  1. Clean the area with soap and water to eliminate sweat, oil and dead cells;
  2. Trim the hair so that it is short, with scissors or an electric shaver, as if it is compressed it can be more difficult to remove;
  3. Apply the cream to the desired region, forming a thin film in sufficient quantity to cover the root, avoiding contact with sensitive areas, such as the labia minora or the vaginal mucosa;
  4. Wait for the product to act for about 5 minutes, or as indicated by the manufacturer on the cream packaging;
  5. Rinse well, removing all product;
  6. Use a moisturizer to prevent the skin from becoming inflamed or irritated after contact with the product.

Before using the product, it is recommended to do a test on a small area, as there may be a risk of developing allergies. To do this, you must apply a small portion of the cream to the skin, wait a few minutes, remove it and then observe whether any changes appear over the next 24 hours.
