Skin cancer is one of the varieties of the disease that has the most cases in Brazil. The disease accounts for 33% of incidents in the country. The National Cancer Institute (Inca) states that there are around 180 thousand new cases per year.
Cancer is characterized by irregular and uncontrolled cell growth. In the case of skin cancer, it is the development of skin cells that grow out of control.

ABCD Exam
One of the main tests for identifying skin cancer is the ABCD. He will observe the spots on the skin and check if their characteristics correspond to the pathology.
Ideally, a semi-annual analysis should be carried out. You can stand in front of the mirror and observe your entire body, including the soles of your feet, behind your ears, head and back. If you find it difficult to look at certain points, ask someone nearby to take photos so you can see better.
Through this check, you will look for ABCD. If you find any of them, it could indicate skin cancer. Look:
- Injury Asymmetry: If one half is different from the other in the stain.
- B for irregular edge: When the contour of the stain is not smooth.
- C major: If the difference in colors in the same stain.
- D in diameter: If the diameter of the stain is greater than 6 mm.
