  1. You guys have been doing gods work for years, I listen to 2-3 full episodes and these shorterter videos every day since this year started and I’ve lost 30 pounds of fat and now im doing strength training, Im addicted to learning from you guys

  2. I’ve been doing 16/8 fasting M-F for months and I eat whatever on the week ends. I don’t go crazy since I’m not a sweets person, I just eat more and don’t worry about keeping track. Since doing this I’ve finally been able to bring down my visceral fat from 11 to 8. I also upped my CrossFit from 3-4 days to 6. I just hit 40 and I look better than I did in high school. This has been the easiest thing to follow that I’ve ever done. I actually enjoy it.

  4. I think it largely depends on how you manage your deficit during the week as well. Some may opt for a more aggressive calorie deficit during the week to counteract some of the effects of a "cheat meal". I think the mindset behind having a cheat meal is more harmful psychological really.

  6. Hmmm. I eat a cheat meal once a week and still loose weight on my diet. But it's just a controlled surplus like their saying…I dont just pig out or anything. But yes I'll have things I want/crave like a pizza, a burger & fries, ect.

  7. Completely disagree. Its hugely important both mentally in terms of a healthy relationship with food and also in terms of revitalising metabolism and muscle retention to have a cheat meal or refeed day. Ive used this every single cut with awesome results. Bodybuilders have used this method for decades for a reason. Long term strict dieting in a deficit with zero breaks its setting yourself up for permanent crash or a seriously unhealthy relationship with food. Also the comparison between a cheat day and an alcoholic is laughable. Not even remotely close to the same thing.

  8. If you have a cheat meal you are essentially spiking your insulin very high. When I have a cheat meal I go high carb and low fat. Carbs are what boost your lepton levels. Not fats. Insulin shuttles glucose and fat into muscle and fat cells. If your muscles are depleted and insulin sensitive or if you are stimulating the muscles through activity which makes the muscles insulin sensitive then you are essentially improving the partitioning ratio of muscle to fat for glucose uptake and metabolism during the digestion of a high carb meal. Timing is important for how the body partitions blood sugar and fats. Cheat meals can be used very effectively not just for a leptin and serotonin increase but also as a why to fill up your glycogen stores and fuel immediate training performance which is usually bad during a cut. I have some of my best metabolism boosting cardio sessions right after a controlled high carb chest meal. I can wake up the next morning rested and look in the mirror leaner than the previous day.   9. Honestly, if cheat meals work for you, then do it. Some prefer refeeds, 80/20 or diet breaks. I think what's more harmful is telling people there is only one way to eat.

  10. If you think about food from an associative conditioning perspective, a dopamine response perspective, it makes sense why cheat meals are disastrous. On those days, you send a very strong signal to the brain that lots of food equals pleasure, bad food is pleasure, then the brain reinforces these associations and you get a dopamine rush after cheating. So when you're back on the diet, now it's actually a lot harder. Plus your insulin has changed, now it's harder access fat for a few days after cheating, what a disaster. The addict analogy is perfect, you wouldn't give an addict 1 day a week where they can go wild, then go cold Turkey all week, you're making the situation 10 times harder than it needs to be. The trick is to stop being so precious, to give up the idea that food is pleasure, obtain pleasure elsewhere. There are so many other things you can do to find enjoyment, if you don't want to be fat and struggling, food can't be a source of happiness, it should be neutral, just fuel.

  11. I disagree. I started at 240 pounds post pandemic. Worked out like a mad man five days a week. Ate healthy six days a week. One day per week I have a cheat meal. Anything I want. Granted I don't over eat but if I want a burger with fries I have it. I weigh 190 pounds already and Have muscle, ab definition. I look like I've been working out for way longer than I have. So I strongly disagree. I changed my entire body composition and still have 1 cheat meal a week.

  12. I stopped drinking diet bullshit drinks or any sodas. Now water, black coffee, green tea only. I eat only whole foods, as organic as possible (fruits and veggies with clean carb sources). Grass fed red meat, organic eggs as local as possible. Raw honey, walnuts, Greek yogurt. When I'm hungry, I eat but I only eat until I'm satisfied. I don't over do it. After about a month of eating and living like that, while training every day, LISS cardio every day, I have ZERO interest in a bullshit "cheat meal" to poison my body. If I want a fun snack or big meal, I can just chew on a bunch of organic dates until I'm full, after a big steak and potatoes with butter meal. It's way easier than it seems too. My body looks so much better and in 2 months I'm going to be lean as fuck. I have no fears of "falling off" because it's just become every day life and I LOVE how I feel and look.

  13. Getting low body percentage single digits You'll find yourself in deep place I’ve been there. I’m 47, 125lbs 5’7” it’s not sustainable you will be starving it’s really not worth the having abs

  14. Donuts on weekends train hard as possible on weekdays not that hard you must blink and cure your mind when cravings come into your head stay disciplined

  15. You cannot add fat cells from a cheat DAY. Then science does NOT support that. Watch Greg Doucettes video on it. And the first video you can click on when you type in should you have a cheat day.

    This guy is wrong saying you can gain fat from a cheat day.

  16. I do plain filtered water (I add Trace Mineral Drops), 1 can of SPAM, and 12 pickles (Cole's Snake Diet) every day for 13 days. Then, I eat ONE cheat MEAL (not day) of as MUCH of ANYTHING I want (even to the point of hurting because I'm so full) for day 14 (typically I take my son out to a buffet style restaurant). I have dropped 25 pounds in a month. I'm 29yo male, 6'3", started @ 260, current weight @ 235. I do agree this type of diet might take willpower for most people, but honestly for me it's what my body prefers. When I eat with only a small deficit of 200-400 calories, I'm constantly craving food. And I dont know what the science is behind it but when I'm eating barely over 1000 calories a day, I sometimes almost forget to eat. I think some peoples' bodies are just more genetically suited for this type of dieting because if you consider how our ancestors would eat. Did they have exactly 2500 calories every day? Of course not. They would get by on berries and nuts for 7 to 10 days and then MAYBE they'd be lucky and take down a big animal after that. And you really think they take their time eating that big animal and saving it? Maybe some, but only if they had leftovers after having a FEAST around the fire and being stuffed to the gills with meat. I feel this is the natural way. I'd like to hear others' opinions on this, but regardless, I've never lost weight so effortlessly.

  17. I follow my diet for 7 days a week and i hot saturday night cheat dinner thats it 😜 but its still healthy like a burger homemade pizza and some nachos with guacamole

I'm a personal trainer and I guess it depends but when I was dieting to get in contest prep for bodybuilding (just to know what it's like) i got extremely low bodyfat by following a low calorie diet 1700kcal a day 6 days in a row and Saturday could literally eat as many calories as i wanted, & mostly from garbage foods honestly. Would i recommend eating that low calories…hell no but i think you can have a cheat day once a week and all it'll do is make you feel stuffed, too full, or bloated at worst. End of the day monitor the scale, mirror, feedback etc. Mind pump does have great content and always interesting to here other opinions and a lot of others here have cheat days with success.

  20. You can't actually gain or lose fat cells. You're born with the amount of fat cells you'll always have. They just 'inflate' so to speak.
