Hotel Renaissance, Sao Paulo – Brazil

South America

For seven months I live and live the day to day of São Paulo, but I was already just a tourist in the Brazilian megalopolis. I visited the capital of São Paulo for the first time in 2009 and I was impressed with the way of great people that São Paulo has. Since then, I have stayed in different regions of the city and tested the quality of some hotels. The last one was the Renaissance, which I met this year. Already a resident of the city, I was invited by the hotel to spend a weekend there and test the facilities and service of the place.

The Renaissance defines itself as a luxury hotel and attracts many executives and foreigners. Recently the hotel also took aim at a new type of audience: young people who make a point of knowing everything that São Paulo can offer. The detail is that these young people are often residents of São Paulo, people who are looking for a hotel to celebrate some special date or even leave the routine, during weekends and holidays.

With that in mind, we went to know the hotel. The first positive is the location. The Renaissance is located in Alameda Santos, on the side of Avenida Paulista. Of all the places where I have already stayed in São Paulo, this was definitely the best. It has everything close by: restaurants, bars, shopping malls, and subway stations. From there you can quickly reach various tourist places of the city.

We checked in and went up to the room, which was large, very clean and with all the infrastructure that is expected of a hotel of this type: bed and comfortable pillows, air conditioning, television, minibar and a huge window overlooking São Paulo.

The bathroom was spacious and also clean. The room we stayed in had no bathtub.

A positive point for the hotel breakfast, which is very rich and includes some typical products of Brazil, açaí type. Those who follow the blog know that we advocate that trying acai cream is one of the experiences that every Brazilian should have in Brazil. Judging by what I saw at the Renaissance, many gringos are doing this, since the açaí smoothie is successful at the hotel breakfast.

The Renaissance also has a play area and for sports, which includes an outdoor pool and gym. Another entertainment option is the hotel bar, although the goal is to raise glasses and not weights. We don’t test the drinks, so I can’t give an opinion on the matter.

Another alternative for leisure is the spa, which has saunas (drout and wet), in addition to a hot tub, at no extra cost. In addition, there are several massage options, with varying prices and duration.

The only negative point of the hotel is the wi-fi internet service, which exists, but is not included in the daily rate. For a hotel with daily rates starting at $ 185 the couple (promotional price), not offering freed internet is definitely a stick. I understand that this fact is not an isolated problem of the Renaissance, since many hotels of the same level only offer the service with additional fee payment. Even so, I find it strange, after all even hostels with nights of R $ 30 have already understood that internet is as essential as water or light, especially when the goal is to attract a young audience that never disconnected.

In the overall balance, the balance is positive. I would stay there, even with the prices above what I am normally willing to pay, if it were to celebrate a special occasion or get out of the routine on a weekend or holiday. Comfort, location and breakfast count many points in favor, the lack of wi-fi internet released is the negative part.
