Hotel Mandarin Oriental Pudong, em Shanghai

News

On my recent trip to China, I had the pleasure of meeting the Hotel Mandarin Oriental Pudong, em Shanghai. One of the best hotels as a cosmopolitan Shanghaio MO It is located on the banks of the Huangpu River, in one of the most valued areas of the city. It is also the financial heart of the metropolis and the newest area of the city, built thirty years ago.

With 362 rooms, it has the largest and most expensive presidential suite in the city. Of course I was dying to meet her, but that will wait until next time, as I was busy.

Right away, we noticed the contemporary style of the hotel and the countless works of art spread throughout the property. In total, there are 4 thousand pieces! A reflection of the partnership with the Aurora Museum, of contemporary art in Shanghai.

I was enchanted by the lobby and its panel full of colors, where we already want to take a thousand photos. Suspended lamps also attract attention due to their originality and modernity.

On the same floor, there is a very pleasant and spacious lounge and bar with views of the greenery. It’s a shame the weather didn’t help when I was there. Even so, it was possible to get an idea of the calm and clean which makes us escape the hustle and bustle of one of the largest metropolises in the world, even though it is very central.

Another important fact for anyone who is a lover of luxury hotels like me, is that, every Mandarin Oriental has his personality, always inserted in the context where he is. Details in the decoration always remind you of the city and/or country in question.

Gastronomy and Spa

The Asian brand Mandarin Oriental pays a lot of attention to two aspects in the hotel industry: restaurants and spa. These were exactly the two experiences I had in Hotel Mandarin Oriental Pudong. We already know that several of the chain’s restaurants, as well as the spas, are award-winning. Of course in a global city like Shanghaiit couldn’t be any different.

O hotel has three restaurants and I had the opportunity to have lunch in one of them, the award-winning Yong Yi Ting, com a Michelin star, in the brand’s first guide launched in the country, now in 2017. It presents the gastronomy of Jiang Nan, a region south of the Yangtze River, the largest in the China and most importantly in the country’s history, culture and economy.

Both the restaurant and the spa are on the floor below the lobby. The environment of Yong Yi Ting It’s simply stunning! Sophisticated without exaggeration and purely Chinese but with contemporary touches. I loved every piece of furniture there. Not to mention the sublime sculpture with the lamps right at the entrance, reminiscent of the famous Chinese lanterns. Gorgeous to die for!

I tried the Jiang Nan menu, varied and delicate; a meal for us to let ourselves go, without rushing, and come into direct contact with the aromas and flavors of Asian cuisine. Our meal was properly paired with wines suggested by the sommelier. The Chinese usually eat it with tea, which may seem a little strange to us… But the interesting thing is exactly this characteristic of the hotel: being international, without losing its roots.

Spa Experience

The spa Mandarin Oriental Pudong I was very impressed. I’m crazy about massages and I always try to give one to ourselves. hotels where I stay. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this was the greatest massage room I have ever been to. After all, there is nothing more annoying than that tiny space, just when we should relax and forget about everyday problems.

In addition to the space, a bright place, with natural light, a large bathtub and two beds, since, in my case, the massage was for the couple. More than experienced therapists, who make you feel at ease and know exactly how to focus on the areas we need most.
