However, even though she was separated from her four daughters (Alana Thompson, Lauryn Shannon, Anna Shannon, Jessica Shannon), Mama June did not want to end her relationship with her boyfriend Mark McDaniel.

“I’m not saying I’m perfect, every day is a struggle and some days I just want to disappear,” Mama June wrote.

However, her family is not convinced of her change, and with that, Mama June’s mother wrote an outburst and appealed to her daughter:

“You need to think about your own daughters and granddaughters who love you and who miss you. I would never have thought that you would end up this way and that you would let a man take over and take everything you worked for.”

“My mother didn’t name me Honey Boo Boo. My name is Alana”, said the teenager.

She continued:

“I think people still expect me to be little Honey Boo Boo, but I’m not anymore. Just because I’m from the south, people expect to see me wearing a cowboy hat, driving a 4×4 all the time, but I’m not like that… But as long as I like myself, everything’s fine.”

Alana also emotionally reported the constant attacks of fatphobia she suffered:

“I don’t understand why people act this way. Just because I have a little extra meat on my bones do you hate me? I will never understand the attacks on my body… I know I’m beautiful and I know my amazing body, so I just don’t care.”

Furthermore, asked about the impact of her fame on her friendships, Alana responded:

“To be honest, I don’t have many friends, there are very few. I feel like people are like, ‘Oh my God, I’m friends with Honey Boo Boo.’ I don’t really trust anyone, so I don’t have any friends.”

Finally, Alana revealed that her relationship with her mother, Mama June, although not easy, is slowly returning. After all, when Mama June was arrested for drug possession, custody of Alana passed to her older sister, Lauryn Efird.

“Many people in the world do not understand how many people are actually affected by drug and alcohol use. It’s very, very difficult. It’s something I really don’t wish on anyone,” declared the teenager.
