Husband is crazy about peanut butter! I even like it, but he’s obsessed! After I discovered how easy it was to make it at home, I didn’t buy any more, especially because the price isn’t very cheap.
In addition to being tastier, homemade peanut butter is so much cheaper. Look how easy it is:
If you don’t find ready-made peanut flour (which is what I used), just toast the peanuts in the oven until the shell starts to come off. Then rub the peanuts with your hands to loosen the skins and discard them. This is a boring task! With the peanuts peeled, just blend them in a blender or processor and obtain the flour.
For the butter (or paste), simply place 2 cups of peanut flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in the processor. Then you just have to be patient.
You don’t need to add oil, as some recipes indicate, because peanuts have a lot of oil in their composition and the more you process, the more this oil will release and moisten the mixture.
It took me about 20 minutes to get a paste and I opened the processor several times to stir with a spoon, as the “dough” tends to stick to the bottom.
I like firmer butter, but if you want it more liquid or want to speed up the process, just mix in one or two teaspoons of oil. Makes approximately 2/3 of a cup.
