Who doesn’t love a crunchy, dry and filling churro, right? Furthermore, it is a very easy recipe and you can make it at home, and the children will love it. But is there any difference between churros sold at stalls and homemade churros?
The answer is no. Well, generally the pasta recipe is the same, what changes is the way of serving it. While at the stalls, churros are stuffed and topped, at home you can make them as you wish. In other words, you can make the dough and fill or dip the ready-made churros.
In fact, we brought both recipes so you can make them at snack time or to welcome your guests. The difference between one dough and another is that the homemade recipe uses sugar, while the one from the stall does not.
Anyway, the preparation time is between 30 and 40 minutes and yields around 10 servings. That way, either way, everyone will love this recipe and will ask for an encore.
Homemade churros recipe
Ingredients
- 250 ml of water
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tablespoons margarine or unsalted butter
- 1 pinch of salt (if the margarine has salt, skip the pinch)
- 300 g of wheat flour
- 3 eggs
- Frying oil
- Sugar and cinnamon mixed to coat the churros after frying
- Dulce de leche for filling
Preparation mode
- First, take a pan and add water and heat it.
- Then, add the margarine and sugar to the pan and stir well until all the margarine dissolves.
- Then, gradually add the wheat flour and continue stirring until the dough comes away from the pan.
- Then, remove the pan from the heat and add the eggs one by one, always stirring, until the dough is homogeneous. Furthermore, place the dough in a piping bag with a nozzle (pitanga shape).
- Now, place a frying pan with oil on the fire, when the oil is hot, press the bag with the dough directly into the frying pan.
- As for the size, it’s up to you, so cut with a knife or your fingertips.
- When fried, place the churros on a paper towel to drain the fat.
- Finally, coat in cinnamon sugar and fill with dulce de leche.
- This recipe is great because the churros are dry and very soft.
Churros from the stall recipe
Dough ingredients
- 2 cups of water
- 1 pinch of salt
- 2 spoons full of margarine
- 2 cups of wheat flour
Filling ingredients
- 1 can of condensed milk
- 3 spoons of chocolate powder
- 1 teaspoon of butter
- Ingredients for sprinkling the churros
- Sugar
- Cinnamon powder
Preparation mode
- In short, the preparation method is similar to the homemade churros recipe. Therefore, boil the water and add the salt and margarine.
- Then, add the wheat flour and stir until the dough comes away from the pan.
- Then, shape the churros as you prefer and fry them in a frying pan with oil, over low heat.
- Then, place the churros to drain the oil on top of the paper towel.
- Finally, dip in the sugar and cinnamon mixture and prepare the filling.
- To prepare the filling, place the condensed milk, chocolate milk and butter in a pan and heat.
- Stir well until the brigadeiro leaves the pan.
- Then, fill the churros and serve.
Tips
- For the churros to be well fried, fry them in oil at a temperature of 180ºC.
- Likewise, to prevent it from looking burnt, fry in enough oil to cover the churros completely.
- Furthermore, to prevent the flour from forming lumps when added to the liquid, reduce the heat and stir quickly. Also, press the dough against the side of the pan to break up any lumps that form.
- Finally, if you use butter in the dough, there is no need to add salt to prevent it from being salty.
