Handmade soap take care of your skin and do it at home

News

Handmade soap is much cheaper and brings much more benefits to the skin than industrialized soaps. Learn how to produce your own soaps.

Handmade soap is easy to make, cheap and can even be a source of extra income! Furthermore, it brings several health benefits. This is because most industrialized soaps contain a series of chemicals in their composition, which can end up causing allergies and skin problems.

According to artisan Lê Bottaro, from the atelier of the same name, who has worked with soap production since 2007, “The main advantage is controlling what your family and customers are using. By opting for natural plant extracts and moisturizing butters, you avoid allergies and aggression caused by chemical products.”

As we said, making soap at home can also bring some economic benefits. In addition, it is cheaper to produce them at home than to buy them at the market (including handmade ones). And, for those who like crafts, soap production can be an opportunity to earn extra income and, who knows, even open their own business.

How to make handmade soap

Producing handmade soap is very easy, but you need to take some special care when carrying out the process. And the first of all is to pay attention to the origin of the raw material.
Bottaro advises:

“Care must be taken when choosing ingredients and opt for quality suppliers. Low price is not always a guarantee of quality! All ingredients must be registered with Anvisa, as this is the artisan’s guarantee of having a good raw material in their hands.”

Another detail: the amount of alcohol. Foundations with a lot of alcohol can be harmful to the health of your skin, leaving it very dry. It is recommended to use ingredients such as glycolic extracts from plants, herbs, dried flowers, butters, oils, glycerin, honey and their derivatives.

Exfoliating

1 tablespoon of grated coconut soap;
2 tablespoons of sugar;
Water or saline solution.
Mix all the ingredients well and the exfoliating soap is ready!

Liquid

Coconut soap;
Avocado oil;
Almond oil;
Geranium essential oil;
Mel;
Water.

Melt the coconut soap until it reaches a liquid consistency. Add all the other ingredients and mix well until a homogeneous mixture is formed. Place in molds, wait for the soap to harden and remove from the mold. Let the product rest for 24 hours. Once done, grate the bar, add water until it covers the grated soap and let it rest in a covered container for about two days, until the soap is completely dissolved.

Barra

3 spoons of cinnamon;
4 spoons of honey;
1 bar of facial soap.
Cut the soap into pieces and melt it. Add the honey and cinnamon, mix well until it forms a homogeneous paste. Place the mixture in a mold and let it rest until the bar hardens. You can speed up the process by placing it in the refrigerator. The recipe yields one bar of soap.

Exfoliating

1 bar soap of your choice;
Water;
Passion fruit seeds.

Grate the whole bar soap. In a pot, add water until the liquid is one finger above the grated soap. Cover the pot tightly and let the mixture sit for two days, until the soap is completely dissolved in the water. If not, add more water and let it rest for another day.

After this step, you already have a liquid soap. To make it exfoliating, remove the passion fruit seeds and grind them in a blender. Add the seeds (washed and dried!) to the soap and mix well.

Liquid

200 ml liquid soap base;
800 ml of water;
30 ml of essence of your choice;
10 ml of glycolic extract;
cosmetic dye;
Amphoteric.

In a container, mix the liquid soap base with the water, adding the water little by little. Next, add the essence, glycolic extract and coloring. Then, add the amphoteric until you reach the desired point and texture. Stir throughout the process. When it reaches the point, let the mixture rest for 24 hours before putting the soap in the package.

Barra

Glycerin bases;
Almond oil;
Clove powder;
Star anise;
Gray clay.

Melt the glycerin in an enamel pan over low heat. When it is liquid, add a few drops of almond oil and two tablespoons of cloves and mix well. In the mold, add a little of the mixture. Then, add a little anise and gray clay to each mold. Then, cover everything with the glycerin mixture. Leave it in the molds until the soap dries completely and remove it from the mold.
