Berlin is probably the most important city in Europa that I still don’t know and I’m dying to reverse this situation! This week I got a taste of there when I was invited by the tourism body Visit Berlinwho organized an event in Rio to promote the city, along with tourism One – a city I knew when I was a teenager.

This is the fourth time that cities have come together and promoted their brands among Brazilian journalists, with the aim of encouraging tourists to get to know both of them in the same trip. The idea is to unite the tradition of One with the modernity of Berlin.

This time, the representatives decided to do something different: a cooking class from gastronomy location of both destinations. And despite not being very good at cooking, I confess that it was a lot of fun!

The meeting took place at Carioca Gastronomy Spacein Botafogo, which offers a variety of cooking courses.

First we learned a little about the two cities. Next year, for example, One celebrates the 150th anniversary of Ringstrasse Blv, the largest open-air museum in the world, according to the Viena Tourism Board. To celebrate the date, a series of events and exhibitions are planned in the city.

Already Berlin It is a city that is admittedly gay friendly, which this year celebrates 25 years since the fall of the wall; offers countless cultural programs, including several festivals in an architecture that mixes modernity with tradition. In addition to being a great shopping destination.

Then it was time to get your hands dirty! Each group took over a stove and was responsible for a dish, all under the command of the chef. Sabine HueckBrazilian based in Germany and author of the recipes.

My dish was a Berlin-style marinated fish salad with creamy yogurt dressing and beetroot carpaccio. It took a lot of work, you know? But it was worth it!

The other groups also made a consommé with gnocchi, Viennese-style goulash and of course two delicious desserts: apfelsturdel (apple pie) – the Austrian flagship – and red fruits with sago and vanilla cream. After cooking, we had the pleasure of trying everything. And it was delicious, the dinner was super approved!

Now all I can do is try these and other dishes in situ! I can’t wait!
