Gabi Dezan, known as the “Life Coach of the Stars” for having sculpted the bodies of celebrities such as Fernanda Vasconcellos and Nívea Stelmann, explains how she radically changed her life to transform her body into a business card in the fitness universe.
“I have a degree in physiotherapy and physical education. When I was in the last year of my second college, physical education, I found myself thinking about how I would be able to build a client portfolio when I graduated. I thought my body would be my calling card, but I had a normal body. So I thought I would need to change my physique radically so that people in Londrina (PR), my city, would see me and think: ‘Wow, what did she do to change that much?’. That way, people would look for me and I would offer my work as a personal trainer”, details Gabi.
In January 2014, the brunette found out that in March there would be a championship in Curitiba for bodybuilding newcomers and she thought it was the opportunity to change her physique quickly.
“So I decided to participate in this championship and I thought: ‘It’ll be just this one, but it will be enough to go on stage in a bikini with a good body, take several photos and that’s it. I’ll have my marketing!’. That’s when something unusual happened. I qualified for this championship that I never thought would be possible, after all there were only 56 days of preparation and thus I qualified to compete in the state championship that would take place two months later. I didn’t want to continue because I really felt this radical change in lifestyle. Dieting and training from Monday to Monday is not for everyone, but my husband didn’t let me stop. I ended up going to the Paraná championship and won! Not only did I win my category, I won the overall of the night (a kind of absolute champion) and with that I qualified for the Brazilian championship that would be held a week later”, says Gabi Dezan with pride.

The brunette also won the Brazilian overall of the night and qualified for the world championship.
“I then started to get a taste for the sport, I felt more challenged and motivated every day. It usually takes an athlete years to step onto an international stage. It took me 4 months and it made me see that I was much more capable than I thought. I didn’t give up and went to Northern Ireland among the 23 best athletes in the world and was in the top 6 in fifth place. There I became an international athlete who would no longer need to compete at state or national level. It was a historic feat. I came back from Europe and thought: ‘If in 4 months I became an international athlete, imagine what I can do in a year?’. And I decided that June 2014 that the following year I would return to the world championship to be the champion. I started preparing right there and as I was already qualified for the next world championship, I didn’t need to stress myself out with other championships. It was a year dedicated to this preparation and in June 2015, in Malta, I became the world bodybuilding champion in my category. It was at this moment that my life changed from water to wine.”

Gabi says that she began to be approached by people around the world and decided to open an online sports consultancy.
“My husband and I started sharing training sheets with people all over the world. And during that time he enrolled in a nutrition course in the USA. As we were already working 100% of the time at home, we decided to move to the United States and finish the course. That was the boom that was missing. In less than 4 months living in the USA on a student visa I discovered that because I was a world champion I could apply for a Green Card and in less than ten days I had it in my hands. I settled here in the United States, opened a company and established our sports consultancies.”

Gabi Dezan currently serves around 250 people per month.
“I have a waiting list with more than a thousand people waiting to take part in our program. My mother, sisters, brother-in-law and aunt work with me. As my coach says, ‘My career is a meteoric trajectory.’”
The brunette is 29 years old, weighs 65kg and is 1.62m tall.
