Cod cake recipe

Ingredients

  • 250 g of cod
  • 250 g sweet potato
  • 2 tablespoons of wheat flour
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 cup (tea) breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup chopped parsley
  • 1 liter of oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Preparation mode

  1. The first step is to desalt the cod. If you don’t know how to do it, learn the right way here.
  2. Once done, peel the potatoes and cut them into medium pieces.
  3. Then, cook over high heat for about 15 minutes or when the potatoes are soft.
  4. Drain the potatoes and transfer to another container and let rest for 5 minutes to remove excess water.
  5. Take the cod and place it in a pan and cover with water and place over high heat.
  6. Wait for it to boil for 5 minutes and turn off the heat.
  7. Set the cod aside while it cools and return to the potatoes.

  9. When the cod is cold, shred it with your hands.
  10. Place a pan on the fire and add the olive oil to sauté the onion and garlic, stirring to avoid burning.
  11. Then add the shredded cod and mix everything, letting it cook for another 5 minutes.
  12. Wait for it to cool and then mix the cod with the potato and flour.
  13. Season with salt, black pepper and parsley.
  14. In a large plate add the breadcrumbs for breading.
  15. Then you can shape the balls with the cod and potato dough into the size you prefer.
  16. Dip the balls in breadcrumbs until completely covered.
  17. In a large pan add the oil and wait for it to heat up before frying the dumplings.
  18. When they are well fried, just take them out, place them on a paper towel to remove some of the oil and you can serve them.

Tips for preparing cod cake

  • The cod skin must be completely removed. Therefore, you can choose to remove it before or after cooking. However, it comes out much more easily once cooked.
