Movimento Corpo Livre emerged in the USA as Body Positive and is gaining strength in Brazil. The idea is to help women accept their bodies as they are!
Have you ever heard of the Corpo Livre movement? The concept was basically born because many women still feel ashamed of exposing their bodies. The vast majority, in fact, feel dissatisfied with their appearance.
The Free Body movement, then, encourages not only women, but everyone, to leave this feeling aside and love the body as it is. In short, he preaches that no one should feel uncomfortable wearing a bikini in public, for example. Above all, no one should deprive themselves of a trip to the beach or the club to avoid exposure.
Basically, this discomfort appears due to being overweight, scars left by pregnancy or even birthmarks. These are factors that motivate these women not to wear a bikini, for example.
Origin of the movement

The Free Body movement was born in the United States in 1967. At the time, in fact, it was called: Body Positive. This means having a more affectionate look at your body the way it is.
As a result of this, women who invest heavily in miraculous and even crazy diets in the unbridled search for weight loss receive help to understand that none of this matters. And they learn to love their bodies as they are.

Body Positive no Brasil
For those who joined the Corpo Livre movement in Brazil, they guarantee that the perfect body does not exist. Therefore, we need to help these women accept and love their bodies the way they are.
However, without neglecting your health, of course. Because the idea has nothing to do with apologizing for a sedentary lifestyle or being overweight. Even because women who are thin are also dissatisfied or unhappy with their bodies.
Certainly, a lot of dedication, study and therapy are part of the routine of women who have embraced the Free Body movement in Brazil.

The force behind the Corpo Livre movement
The head of the Corpo Livre movement in Brazil is the digital influencer, Alexandra Gurgel, who became known after publishing a tutorial on social media on how to put on a bikini and go to the beach. Alexandra graduated in journalism from PUC in Rio de Janeiro. She is the owner of the Alexandrismos YouTube channel. Basically, it is there that she holds most of the discussions about the Corpo Livre movement.
Better known to her followers as , Xanda. She began her process of self-acceptance in 2015. However, since then, she has been gaining notoriety on social media and on topics involving female empowerment, fatphobia and body positive.

As a result of this, the Corpo Livre movement gained strength because it reached all women who, at some point in their lives, stopped participating in a program, such as going to the beach or the pool in a bikini, out of shame about exposing their bodies.
However, he encourages exactly the opposite: to put on a bikini that feels comfortable and go to the beach, the pool, to love your body the way it is, reducing demands and accepting yourself more.

#CorpoLivre
The hashtag Corpo Livre emerged five years ago, when Alexandra Gurgel decided to talk about what bothers most women: their bodies.
Basically, she dedicated herself to studying the subject, published the book Pare de se Hate and from then on, the movement has only been growing. #CorpoLivre is currently followed on Instagram by more than 90 thousand people.
As a result of this, other women have embraced the Corpo Livre movement and are helping each other, such as Joana Canabrava and Carla Paredes, from the blog: chat about self-esteem.
Their statement made on the blog: “we are women outside the imposed standard of beauty, but still raised with all the privileges and opportunities”.
