Opened in 1959, the Four Seasons Hotel Ritz is one of the best hotels in Lisbon and certainly the most elegant in the Portuguese capital! A hotel that knew how to maintain tradition and refinement and is still luxury reference in the city. In 2021, it underwent a major renovation, with 80% of its rooms renovated and a new heated outdoor pool. With a great location, it offers magnificent views and a decor that is pure glamour. Furthermore, the restaurants are excellent, with the starred Cura, the renowned spa, and the Four Seasons brand service, impeccable. Four Seasons Hotel Ritz – one of the best hotels in Lisbon
Upon entering the imposing building designed by architect Porfírio Pardal Monteiro, we come across the sumptuous and spacious lobby, with its replicas of 18th century furniture. Also impressive are the works of contemporary Portuguese art, which are part of one of the largest private art collections in the country. Not to mention the mega flower arrangements that are absurdly beautiful and tasteful. That is, a luxury hotel in Lisbon which impressed us from the moment we arrived.
The rooms
There are 282 rooms and suites – divided into a ten-story building – and renovated by the design duo Artur Miranda and Jacques Bec. The views can be of Eduardo VII Park, São Jorge Castle, the historic area of the city, the Tagus River and the 25 de Abril bridge. The decor remains classic, maintaining the chairs and rugs, but with modern and colorful touches, such as the bedside table and the bed.
My room, category Deluxe Park View, was 49 m², with a king size bed, desk, TV, a chaise and another small table with a chair. In other words, accommodation very well equipped to receive the most demanding guests, with several sockets and perfect internet access, something essential these days, among other things such as a coffee maker and minibar. The bathroom, all marble, had bathrobes and a bathtub.

A rich breakfast is served in the traditional Varanda restaurant, led by starred French chef Pascal Meynard. I had the chance to have lunch there on a Sunday too and I loved it! Originally from Madrid, a reference in the Spanish capital for decades, it offers an experience of Japanese haute cuisine.
THE CURE star
Led by young chef Pedro Pena Bastos, who makes contemporary and original Portuguese cuisine, the restaurant has a Michelin star and offers three tasting menu options, in addition to à la carte. The intimate and elegant environment was designed by Miguel Câncio Martins, with an open kitchen and modern chandeliers, which look like a work of art.
