Droppropizine: what it is for and how to take it

Cough

Dropropizine is an antitussive indicated to relieve dry, allergic and irritating coughs, without phlegm, caused by allergies, infections, inflammations or irritations of the respiratory tract and bronchi.

This remedy works by preventing the cough reflex, helping to relieve dry and allergic coughs, and is found in the form of a syrup or drop solution, as a generic or with the names Notuss, Vibral, Ecos, Gotas Binelli or Neotoss, for example.

Dropropizine can be indicated for adults or children over 2 years of age, it should be used with the advice of a pulmonologist, otorhinolaryngologist, pediatrician or general practitioner, after evaluating the cause of the dry cough. See the main causes of dry cough.

What is it for

Dropropizine is indicated for the treatment of dry, allergic, spasmodic and irritative cough, caused by allergies, infections, inflammation or irritation of the respiratory tract and bronchi.

Furthermore, dropropizine may be recommended by the doctor for the treatment of dry cough caused by respiratory infections, associated with other medications.

The use of dropropizine must be carried out with the recommendation of a pulmonologist, otorhinolaryngologist, pediatrician or general practitioner, with medical monitoring and assessment of the emergence of side effects.

Is droppropizine a corticosteroid?

Dropropizine is not a corticosteroid and does not contain any corticosteroids in the composition of the syrup or drops.

This medicine is an antitussive that acts by inhibiting the cough reflex, in addition to having a relaxing action on the bronchial muscles, relieving coughs and improving pulmonary ventilation.

Dropropizine also reduces bronchospasm caused by histamine in the body, and therefore helps in treating allergic cough.
