Coconut Braid – Panelaterapia

Coconut Braid

Snacks

I really wanted to eat sweet bread from a bakery, but I decided to get my hands dirty instead of going out to buy it. I took an old recipe and put it in the bread maker. I used the “dough” function (which is used to knead the ingredients and let the dough rise), so anyone who doesn’t have a machine can do it without any problems.

Ingredients for 1 large braid:
50 ml of warm water
50g unsalted butter, melted
2 eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon of salt
250g to 350g wheat flour (you may use a little more or less)
1/2 packet (or 5g) instant dry yeast for bread

For those who have a machine Just add the ingredients in the order above and turn on the “dough” cycle, in the case of my machine it is option “8”. It will knead and let it rise, after which you remove the dough from the machine and continue the process (it takes about 1h 30min).

For whom no have a machine Just mix the ingredients above and add the flour little by little, until it doesn’t stick to your hands (you can use a little more or less than the indicated amount). Let the dough rise in a warm place for 40 minutes to 1 hour (I like to place a piece of cling film over the bowl and leave it in the turned off oven).

Then, just give it the format you want. I divided it into 3 parts, made 3 “snakes” (like we did with play dough at school?) and braided them.

After shaping, let it rise for another 20 minutes and bake at 200º until the surface is golden.

The cream on top is that boxed pudding, because this cook here is all lazy! The best way to do this is vanilla, but I only found coconut and made it with that one. For this recipe you will use 1/3 of the ready-made pudding. Prepare according to the instructions on the package, let it cool at room temperature, cover the bread with the pudding and sprinkle with grated coconut.

It was very tasty, the dough is delicious, but I’m going to ask you one thing: don’t use boxed pudding… it’s WOW!!! It tastes like medicine! hahahaha…. make an honest pastry cream (there are plenty of recipes on the internet, “hunting” there) agreed?
