Chicago at your feet in the tallest building in the United States

North America

The cliché “a few pictures are worth a thousand words” serves well for this post. One of the great attractions of Chicago and the Willis Tower (old Sears Tower), o tallest building in the United States, with 109 floors. There in 103rd walkthere is a skydeck reserved for taking photos and seeing the city from above.

Discover the Willis Tower

All of this would be worth it not only for the beautiful photos, but for the feeling of seeing Chicago from so high up. However, the big difference of the Willis Tower is the fact that it has some Fully glass “balconies”. Yes, you step on the glass and see the city, literally, at your feet. Look up and see the sky. Look ahead and see the buildings. It gives the feeling of floating through the city. I confess that I was a little scared and even dizzy, but it was an incredible feeling.

Price and queue

Before talking about the queue, let’s go straight to the price. To climb this building, you will have to pay 18 dollars . If you are already in the region of Millennium Parkyou can walk without needing public transport.

To go up to the building, be prepared to have the same patience as someone visiting the Empire Stateof New York, as we already said here on the blog. The queue is quite long. The Saturday I went, I waited for about 2 hours to be able to climb. The process starts outside the building, then you go down and wait in another long line to buy tickets. Just when you think it’s over, there’s another queue to actually enter the tower. And there’s still another queue to watch a film about the building. But as it was very busy on this day, they skipped the movie for the people who were in the same line as me.

At least, during the queue there are a series of elements to distract, such as information about how many bathrooms there are in the building, the number of people who walk there daily and even which states of the country people can see from up there.

To put an end to the queue once and for all, when you’re already up there fighting for space at the various windows, you still need patience to finally get to the most awaited part: the glass balcony/balcony.

Despite the sacrifice, it is an unforgettable trip and one that has to be done by anyone going to Chicago for the first time! To conclude, the photos are worth more than the post:
