The band Calcinha Preta is now re-releasing the song “Paulinha” in honor of Paulinha Abelha, on the upcoming album.
The song “Paulinha” should be re-released by the band Calcinha Preta next Thursday (17), in audio and video. The occasion on which Calcinha Preta re-releases the song “Paulinha” is a tribute to the artist who gives the song its name, Paulinha Abelha. The singer died on February 23, as a result of meningoencephalitis, cranial hypertension, acute kidney failure and hepatitis.
In this sense, the new version will be on all digital platforms, and will also feature never-before-seen images of Paulinha with the rest of the band. The photos come from a show recorded in Belém, in December 2021. According to DiAssis, manager of Calcinha Preta, the complete DVD of the show should be released between the end of March and the beginning of April. The song came about through a letter from a fan, after the announcement of the artist’s first marriage. The situation became a milestone for the band.
Thus, in the chorus, “Paulinha, tell me what I do…”, sung by Daniel Diau, Abelha paraded with her formal look and flowing hair. In Sergipe, during the farewell to the singer, at her wake, many sang the song several times, among her family, friends and fans. Furthermore, another way found to remember Paulinha was to change the band’s logo, adding a bee, as well as the artist’s catchphrase, “Como não amar”.

The band had returned to the stage on the 11th, in Mata Roma, in Maranhão. Soon after, the following day, they performed in Palmares, Pernambuco. Both shows were marked by tributes to the singer. Likewise, about this, Di Assis commented: “The band is slowly getting back into rhythm and playing shows all over Brazil. This weekend we will be in Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte. It has been emotional and very difficult, but at the same time, when we know that it was what she liked to do, be with the public, we overcome the pain”.
When Calcinha Preta re-released the song “Paulinha”, many returned to the artist’s origins. She had a back and forth trajectory in the band, and established herself as an important voice in electronic forró. Furthermore, she helped to renew the rhythm of Calcinha Preta. Paulinha sang in the band for almost 20 years. Born in Simão Dias, in Sergipe, Paula de Menezes Nascimento Leça Viana started singing at a young age, in bands in the interior of the state. She was part of the groups Panela de Barro and Flor de Mel. She joined Calcinha Preta in 1998.
