Built-in braid – How to do it, history and list of inspirations

Beauty

The inlaid braid is a version of the original braids, found 22 thousand years before Christ in both versions of the statues of Venus.

Firstly, braids have always been in fashion, whether it is a built-in braid or not. The hairstyle is extremely elegant but can also be simple, there are different braid models that vary according to your personality.

History of braids

According to records, the first braids were found 22 thousand years before Christ in the statues of Venus of Brassempouy and Willendorf. However, the technique of tracing hair was noticed later, 3,500 years before Christ in Africa.

Basically, the hairstyle was used by civilizations to identify everything from tribes, marital status, religion, to social position. In some African cultures, for example, the braid was used as a language tool.

In Ancient Egypt, in turn, anyone who had many braids was synonymous with a rich person, no wonder Cleopatra always had several in her hair accompanied by gold threads. In Ancient Greece, women began to elaborate on their hairstyle, with wires and threads, all to make the braided bun more sophisticated.

In the Middle Ages, although women wore headdresses, underneath them, some braids were found. Thus, each culture had a different relationship with tracings.

But in Brazil, the first contact with the hairstyle was through slaves in the colonial period. However, it was in the 70s, with the help of the hippie movement, that they took over the world and became fashionable.

You can wear the boxer and the ponytail to the gym, work, as well as college/school.

The more sophisticated and elegant ones are great for large ceremonies such as graduations and weddings. However, the traditional braid and the partial braid are the most suitable for a walk, cinema and dinner.

How to make a built-in braid?

First of all, apply some repair oil to your hair, which, in addition to moisturizing, will make your locks easier to braid and with a better finish. However, your locks must be clean and dry. Now it’s time to learn how to braid.

Then follow the step by step:

1st step: Separate the strands for the braid. Separate a section of hair at the top of your head and then divide that same section into three equal parts.

2nd step: Using these three sections, braid your hair twice. From there, you can start your built-in braid.

3rd step: Hold the strand on the right and, using your middle finger, grab some more hair next to that strand. Then, join the two strands and bring them to the center. Repeat this operation on the left side.

4th step: Continue repeating this process, incorporating the braid throughout the rest of your hair until there are no more loose strands left and you finish braiding.

5th step: Secure the end of your hair with an elastic so that the strands don’t come loose. If you prefer, use your finger to make the bangs looser.

6th step: Finally, temperature, rain and body movements can destabilize the hairstyle or even release the famous frizz effect. Therefore, use an ointment or cream to control frizz in your hair. In this hairstyle, you can leave the bangs loose to make the look even more romantic. You can also leave a few strands loose in your hair if you prefer.
