When I saw this recipe that was sent by a reader to Queens of the Home my first reaction was doubt. Like this? A brigadeiro that’s the same as the traditional one but doesn’t contain condensed milk??? And my second reaction was obviously to run to the kitchen.
I did as the recipe indicated: I put 1 cup of milk, 4 tablespoons of chocolate powder (here I used 2 of chocolate powder and 2 of chocolate powder), 3 tablespoons of sugar (I only used 2) and 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter. I put it on medium heat, stirring constantly.
You have to persevere, mates, because it takes 35 minutes to thicken and if you neglect the pan, the milk will spill! But it thickens and looks beautiful, exactly like the traditional brigadeiro.
My impressions:
Appearance: 100% the same
Smell: 95% the same
Taste: 85% the same
It really is delicious! But I wouldn’t say it’s the same or better than the original, but it’s very similar! It makes less, but has fewer calories. I loved debuting the luxury ramekin I got from Dani!
Now let’s agree that making brigadeiro when you feel desperate to eat sweets and don’t have condensed milk is priceless, right? This is a precious recipe!
