Dengo factory in São Paulo
Dengo was founded in 2017 by Guilherme Leal – co-founder of Natura. His intention was to create a social impact business to generate income for small cocoa producers in Southern Bahia. Therefore, three years later and with 19 stores across Brazil, the Dengo Factory also appeared in São Paulo. According to Estevan Sartoreli, co-founder of Dengo, it is “a space that celebrates cocoa and chocolate, but also venerates the country’s flavors, art and culture”.

The Dengo Factory in São Paulo has 1500m² and is divided into four floors and has a cafe, bar, restaurant, ice cream parlor, as well as a store selling chocolates and Brazilian products. Just to illustrate, right on the ground floor we can see the entire manufacturing process bean to bar – from cocoa beans to chocolate. Therefore, the sensorial experience begins in front of bags of cocoa coming from the south of Bahia. Then, sounds and virtual reality glasses take us to cabruca, where cocoa trees grow in the middle of the native forest.

Soon after, we can see the almonds being transported through transparent ducts with the intention of being separated from the shell, roasted and transferred to a machine (original from the 1940s) for refining and finishing the chocolate.
In fact, this entire route can be done with a guide. However, prior scheduling is required.

Exclusive Chocolates
Continuing the tour, on the first floor there is a glass-enclosed kitchen where we can watch the preparation of exclusive chocolates. Furthermore, there is the Meu Dengo Station where visitors can produce their completely personalized chocolate bars. And, equally, there is also an ice cream shop specializing in flavors based on chocolate and Brazilian fruits.

Going up a little further, on the second floor, the immersive experience of the Dengo Factory in São Paulo takes us to the coast of Bahia. There are, for example, a bar and a restaurant with outdoor tables, a national wine cellar and the Chocolate Library, with products from other Brazilian manufacturers.

And finally, on the third floor is the terrace with a hammock. Is there anything better than relaxing in a hammock enjoying chocolate? The Dengo Factory in São Paulo is certainly a gift for all chocoholics out there.
What’s more, the concept store’s proposal is to dive into products of Brazilian origin. Therefore, there you will also find specialty coffees, cheeses and national wines.
