Borage is a medicinal plant, also known as Rubber, Chimarrona, Barrage or Soot, widely used in the treatment of respiratory problems.

The scientific name for borage is Borago officinalis and can be purchased in some health food stores and compounding pharmacies.

What is borage good for?

Borage is used to help treat coughs, phlegm, colds, flu, colds, bronchitis, nasal and genitourinary inflammations, cholesterol, PMS and skin problems.

The properties of borage include its astringent, anti-diarrheal, anti-flu, anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, depurative, diaphoretic, diuretic, expectorant, hypoglycemic, laxative, diaphoretic and tonic action.

How to use borage

The parts of borage used are its flowers, stem, leaves and seeds to make teas, and the plant hairs must always be filtered.

  • Borage infusion: Place 2 tablespoons of borage in 1 cup of boiling water and let it rest for 10 minutes. Then strain and drink twice a day.
