Blackberry Jelly

Sweet cakes and pies

If there is one jelly that is unanimous, it is blackberry jelly, after all, this delight combines sweet and sour in an explosion of flavor that goes very well with everything! If you’ve never tried it, the time has come, so let’s find out more about this delight.

Very healthy jelly:

Blackberries are found every summer and autumn in Brazil from North to South. They are rich in antioxidants, fiber and have an unmistakable flavor that is love at first sight.

Blackberries are also an excellent source of vitamin C and essential minerals like potassium. Furthermore, studies indicate that they can benefit heart health, cognitive function and can even help with weight loss (yay!). So, if you needed an excuse to start consuming, are you going to say I didn’t find one?

The Art of Making Jelly:

The basic recipe for our jelly starts with the combination of ripe blackberries and sugar over low heat. It looks simple but is full of details to make it perfect. So let’s see what you need to know before starting:

Tips for the Perfect Blackberry Jam:

  • Choose ripe blackberries and preferably picked on the day for the best flavor.
  • Always use a thick-bottomed pan to prevent the jam from burning.
  • Don’t be in a rush, after all the jelly needs to be cooked over low heat.
  • Store your jam in sterilized glass jars to prevent mold.

My Blackberry Jam Recipe

Blackberry jam

I found a huge blackberry tree here in Sorocaba and I went crazy, I took everything I could and they turned into delicious jelly.

The appearance of homemade jelly is not as beautiful and shiny as the industrialized one, but the flavor of the organic version is infinitely better!

How to make

Bring 1 and 1/2 cups of blackberries (with stems and all) and 1/2 cup of organic crystal sugar to a low heat. When the sugar melts, crush the blackberries with a potato masher (those who prefer smooth jelly should use a blender ).

Keep on low heat until almost all the water has dried, stirring constantly.

It doesn’t make much, about 1/2 cup, but as it should be consumed within 3 days (kept in the fridge) I think it’s enough to always have fresh jelly at home, after all it’s really easy to make, right?
