Biscuit 1, 2, 3

Sweet cakes and pies

This might be the cookie recipe oldest that I know. Is it one of those from grandma’s recipe books, manja? It can be considered the revenue and basic dough to any cookiee Once it’s ready, you can flavor it however you want.

Ingredients:

  • 100 g (1/2 cup of tea) sugar;
  • 200 g of butter (1 rectangular stick);
  • 300 g (2 and 1/2 cups of tea) wheat flour.

* I added orange zest and a little vanilla essence (but it’s optional ok?).

Just mix everything. The butter must be chopped into small pieces to make it easier and must also be cold. With the heat of your hands it softens and is incorporated with the rest of the ingredients.

Don’t keep kneading the dough, as soon as all the ingredients come together, stop mixing. Wrap in plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 15 minutes to harden a little.

Shape the balls and place them on the baking tray. No need to grease. I use a silicone mat (I bought this one from Tok & Stok, I know you’ll ask lol… lol…), but you can do it on a regular baking tray.

Now the trick to having a very crispy cookie: Place the baking tray in the fridge for half an hour.

Preheat the oven to 180ºC for 10 minutes. Remove the cookies from the fridge and bake until golden brown (takes between 10 and 20 minutes depending on your oven). Keep an eye on it because biscuits are prone to burning.

Mine are very golden because the orange peel gives it that color, if you make the traditional recipe it is much lighter.

Makes 3 large baking trays and the balls are a little bigger than a R$1 coin.

And the scent of homemade cookies around the house, is there anything better?
