Properties are visited by inspectors, always anonymous, who evaluate them based on up to 900 objective standards. This year, new destinations were added to the list: Abu Dhabi, Amsterdam, Aruba, Chengdu, Dubai, Hokkaido, Jamaica, Kuala Lumpur, Madrid, Marrakech, Okinawa, Panama, Prague, Sanya and Vienna.

Germany
In Munich, the Mandarin Oriental Munich was the first hotel in the city to earn 5 stars. The chain’s smallest hotel, with just 73 rooms, is a charm in the heart of the old city.

Brazil
The Belmond Hotel das Cataratas, located within the Iguaçu National Park, in Paraná, it won 5 stars for service excellence. Also from the Belmond chain, the Copacabana Palace, a traditional hotel in Rio de Janeiro, received 4 stars, as did the Fasano Rio e São Paulo and the Hotel Emiliano, in São Paulo.

China
In Hong Kong, The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, the brand’s second hotel in the country, secured 5 stars in three establishments: the hotel, Spa, and the French restaurant Amber.

In Las Vegas, the Mandarin Oriental made a trio of 5 stars: hotel, the French restaurant Twist by Pierre Gagnaire and the Spa! Also securing the triple prize was Wynn Las Vegas, for its Chinese restaurant Wing Lei and the Spa.

In Miami, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, located in the sophisticated Brickell, gained 5 stars, as did The St Regis Bal Harbour, facing the sea and Miami’s most luxurious shopping mall.

France
In Paris, where we find excellent luxury hotels, some received 5 stars from Forbes, such as The Peninsula Paris (in total, 9 hotels in the chain received five stars), close to the Arc de Triomphe and with views of the Tower, and the Shangri- La Hotel, a palace hotel considered one of the Historical Monuments of France.

Morocco
In its debut, Marrakech gained 5 stars in two hotels, Royal Mansour and Mandarin Oriental, and 4 stars in two more, the Four Seasons Resort Marrakech, a super well-located oasis, and La Mamounia, a classic hotel in the city.
