Barra da Lagoa, Florianópolis
We chose this hostel because of its proximity to the beach and because it was voted one of the best in Brazil. HI Barra da Lagoa is located in the region of the same name in Florianópolis. It is a fishing village and conservation area of the Tamar project, 150 meters from the beach which has crystal clear water and many kiosks with cheap beer.
The Hostel is new, in a large and comfortable house. The three of us stayed in a room with two bunk beds. All rooms, shared and private, have an internal bathroom. The room also has lockers individual.

The daily rate includes wi-fi (which does not work in all rooms) and breakfast, which is very well served and includes fruit, bread, cake, juice, coffee and milk. An equipped kitchen is also available to guests. Sheets are delivered upon arrival and anyone who wants a towel has to pay a fee of 5 reais.
The reception is open 24 hours and the staff is very friendly and knows how to give tips about the city. They propose activities and offer tickets and transport to clubs. The only caveat in relation to HI Barra da Lagoa is if you are interested in staying on a beach further away from the east coast or like action and are going in low season – in this case, the location is not the most suitable.

We stayed at HI Barra da Lagoa for free due to the partnership that the HI network has with the Brazilian Travel Blog Network, of which 360meridianos is part. The opinions expressed in this post are true and reflect what we saw on site.
