I was staying for the second time at the historic The Hay-Adams Hotel, a luxury hotel near the White House, in Washington DC. With the seal, The Leading Hotels of the World, which represents the best and most exclusive hotels in the world, it has a privileged location, exemplary service, an excellent restaurant and a popular bar. It is often used for business events and political meetings, and it was there that former President Barack Obama stayed with his family before taking office. Location

In an area with many galleries, museums and tourist attractions, the luxury hotel in Washington DC It is an 8-minute drive from the National Mall, where Washington, DC’s main museums are located, most of which are free. It is also close to the Lincoln Memorial, one of DC’s main monuments. The hotel near the White House won me over at first glance. It was renovated in 2010, but maintained the 1920s Renaissance style architecture. The common areas are decorated with classic design furniture, made of dark wood. The name is a tribute to John Hay and Henry Adams, two great intellectuals who owned houses on the site of the hotel’s construction.

The rooms

The Hay Adams DC has 124 rooms and 21 suites, in an eight-story building. The accommodations have elegant decor, with sober but classic tones and very cozy. Some with fantastic views of the White House. The bed king size it was covered with Italian designer sheets and was quite comfortable. Meanwhile, the 50” TV with Google Chromecast, the speaker with bluetooth Bose brand and digital temperature control indicated the hotel’s technological character. In addition, an iron, ironing board, microfiber bathrobes and slippers are also available, as it should be in a 5 star hotel. The bathroom had classic decor, with marble walls and amenities.

Of course, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to get to know the Hay-Adams presidential suite. After all, it’s not every day that we stay at the same hotel where the leader of the greatest world power stayed, right? The suite has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, fireplace and also a dining table with 8 seats.

This year, I was staying at the hotel during the 4th of July holiday (American Independence) and was able to participate in the party that Hay Adams prepared. All themed with the colors of the flag and typical American foods, I watched the famous fireworks of the 4th of July!

The Lafayette

The hotel restaurant near the White House is one of the most prestigious in the American capital. It is very elegant, with a sophisticated lounge that is naturally widely used for business meetings. The environment is well lit and overlooks Lafayette Square and the White House. Among its diners are presidents, first ladies and personalities, for example. In other words, the biggest buzz! The menu features dishes from contemporary American haute cuisine and you will probably have a great experience when choosing it. Furthermore, the staff is well trained and therefore very attentive.

If you prefer, you can reserve the private dining room that seats up to 24 people. The atmosphere is refined and perfect for an intimate event or family reunion. O Lafayette restaurant Open daily from 6:30am to 11pm and serves all meals. On Saturdays and Sundays, brunch is served from 11:30 am to 2 pm. (Lafayette will be closed for dinner on Sunday and Monday nights until September 5, 2023).

Off the Record

Elected as one of best hotel bars in the world per Forbes.com, Off the Record is located in the basement of the hotel. One of the most famous in the city, it has a relaxed atmosphere while playing with the seriousness of Washington, DC. Good humor is present, in addition to the name, in its slogan “Off the Record” – the best place in Washington to be seen and not heard.” Genius!
