Among the Latin Grammy winners, several Brazilian names received nominations and ended the night with awards.

One of the most anticipated events by music fans took place last Thursday (18). The Latin Grammys, which brings together several names from the Latin music industry, stood out this year due to its honors. The awards ceremony took place at the MGM Garden Arena, in Las Vegas.

The current edition, which is already in its 22nd year, had some Brazilian representatives participating in the opening number of the ceremony. They were Anitta, Giulia Be and Carlinhos Brown. Likewise, Brazilians were also among the Latin Grammy winners.

On the other hand, the tributes were also an important moment of the awards ceremony. For example, singer Marília Mendonça, victim of a plane crash on the 5th, was a name celebrated on the night. Thus, the singer competed for the award for Best Country Album for her project “Patroas”, alongside Maiara and Maraisa.

Likewise, on the occasion, Manuel Abud, director of the Latin Grammys, was responsible for dedicating the award. “I propose not to let sadness overshadow today’s celebration,” he commented. “I invite everyone to use this ceremony to celebrate Marília Mendonça and her legacy.” Furthermore, at the end of the presentation, presenter Carolina Dieckmann even asked the artist for a round of applause.

In this sense, other names that competed among the categories of Latin Grammy winners were Anavitória, Ivete Sangalo, Duda Beat, Barões da Pisadinha, Emicida, Melim, Michel Teló, Diogo Nogueira, Marcelo D2 and Vitor Kley. However, Giulia Be was the only Brazilian who received a nomination for the New Artist award.

Firstly, Caetano Veloso and his son Tom received a Grammy nomination for their single, “Perhaps”, in the Record of the Year category. Soon after, Nana Caymmi competed for the gramophone award for Album of the Year for “Nana, Tom e Vinicius”. . Finally, the group BaianaSystem competed for the award for Best Short-Term Music Video for “Reza Forte”, in partnership with BNegão.

Additionally, some names returned to the Latin Grammy stage, such as singer Christina Aguilera, who hadn’t released an album in Spanish for 21 years. Thus, together with Becky G, Nathy Peluso and Nicki Nicole, she presented the song “Pa Mis Muchachas”, the title of her new album.
