Red Fruit Syrup or Sauce

This syrup is super versatile! So much so that you can use it in various sweet and savory dishes (believe me, it goes wonderfully with some meats). I’ll give you the recipe for the syrup and soon you’ll see examples of its use here on the blog.

Red fruits (which aren’t even that red) is a rather vague name, so to simplify things you can use a combination of any of these fruits in whatever proportion you want: strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, plum and whatever else you want. You can also use just 1 of these fruits.

Just heat 1 cup of chopped fruit, 1/2 cup of sugar (I used organic crystal) and 50 ml of port wine. If you don’t have it, it can be any wine. Wait for it to boil, mash it over the heat (I use a potato masher because I like it to be chunky) and let it cook until it reaches the desired consistency (about 10 minutes).
