Easy and Cheap

Sweet cakes and pies

Anyone who follows me here knows that confectionery cakes are far beyond my capacity and my culinary laziness. I think these cakes with several layers, icing made with a piping tip, fondant and all those frills are beautiful, but it’s not for me. I always preferred to buy birthday cakes ready-made here at home. However, yesterday was the birthday of maridovisky and I decided I would make the cake.

I did it, and I thought it turned out beautiful! At least by the standards of someone with no pastry skills, like me.

I made a point of bringing the idea to you because I know that there are a lot of people who also don’t have the gift of baking and/or the money to pay “a kidney” for a kilo of cake.

This cake, which serves around 15 people, was very cheap and was all made with the “trick”, and with all the sincerity in the world: it was very good!

I already taught how to make this cake here on the blog, but this time I didn’t use a mold with a removable rim, I assembled the cake on a baking sheet lined with plastic wrap and after it was chilled, I turned it over onto a cutting board.

The dough I used is this one (Dona Benta’s Festa Cake). Bag cake colleague! If you have a good recipe for white dough or sponge cake you can use it, but as the idea was to make it easier I went with ready-made dough.

You can see the assembly –> here.

Important: If you assemble the cake in a regular pan lined with plastic wrap, start with a thin layer of whipped cream, because when you unmold it, this whipped cream will be the top of the cake, if you make it in a removable ring, start with the dough because it will be the base. If I wasn’t very clear, use the comments to ask questions, because it was a big mistake that I didn’t take a photo of the step-by-step process, sorry!
