Massages to relieve headaches and stress
Some points are strategic for relieving headaches and stress, such as the temples, the top of the head and the back of the neck. These regions must be pressed during the massage. But before you start, it’s important to try to relax, so take a deep breath and exhale for two minutes.
You can do two headache massage methods presented below.
Massage 1
In this method, you must start by pressing the temples with circular movements using the tips of your fingers or the palm of your hands. Then press behind your ears, at the base of your skull, using your thumbs. Finally, with your head tilted forward, place the palm of your hand on your forehead and with the other hand, press the back of your neck with your elbow forward.
Massage 2
This other headache massage method is also very simple. You should start by massaging your temples with your fingertips for 1 minute with circular movements. Then, also using your fingertips, lightly press the back of your neck for 2 minutes. Then, massage the top of the head for 3 minutes, with increasingly slower movements. To finish, gently pull the hair roots for 3 minutes.
Acupressure
Like acupuncture, acupressure has its origins in traditional Chinese medicine. Therefore, this technique is based on relieving pain by pressing specific points on the body. This way, you can massage for a headache just by pressing a certain part of your hand, foot or arm and the pain will go away.
The acupressure point that relieves headache and stress is found between the thumb and index finger. To start, relax your right hand and, with your left thumb and index finger, form a pinch. Then, press the area between your right thumb and index finger with your left thumb and index finger. Press firmly on the area for 1 minute, when you feel slight pain or a sensation of heat in the area, release and rest your fingers for 10 seconds.
This process must be repeated at least 3 times on each hand, alternating from the right hand to the left and vice versa.
