Paulinha Abelha’s wake brought together friends, family and fans of the singer on Thursday morning (24). The ceremony took place in the city of Aracaju, Sergipe. The artist already had more than 30 years of musical career and almost 20 in the group Calcinha Preta alone. Paulinha passed away at the age of 40 last Wednesday (23). In this sense, the wake, which began in the early hours of Thursday, was open to the public from 7 am.
The entire ceremony takes place at the Constância Vieira Gymnasium. The place has capacity for 7 thousand people. Even so, it is limited to just 1,000 people due to Covid-19 health protocols.
Paulinha Abelha had been hospitalized since February 11th in Aracaju. The artist was diagnosed with kidney problems, shortly after arriving from a tour she was doing with the group Calcinha Preta in São Paulo. Thus, the singer was hospitalized in a deep coma due to her kidney problems at Hospital Primavera.
Likewise, according to a statement, Paulinha died at 7:26 pm “as a result of a multisystemic impairment”. Furthermore, the hospital reported that the singer had a serious worsening of her neurological condition in the last 24 hours. Soon, this began the brain death diagnosis protocol.

Whatever the case, singer Paulinha Abelha will still have a second wake on Friday (25). It should take place between 9am and 2pm, but at the José Maria Sports Gym, in Simão Dias, also in Sergipe. The place is the artist’s hometown.
Therefore, the burial should only be attended by Paulinha’s family, and it will take place on Friday afternoon, right after the wake. Today, at Ginásio Constância Vieira, the public took the opportunity to say their prayers and watch over the singer’s body.
