Did you know that your dog’s health can say a lot about you?

Pay attention to the story we will tell below.

Browsey was an adorable little dog with the energy of a dog half her age.

Even at her advanced 13 years, she was often mistaken for a puppy.

Soon after owner Patti McCracken of Chicago moved into a new apartment, Browsey began acting strangely, forgetting where she lived and walking in circles repeatedly.

What your dog's health says about yourself

McCracken took the dog to several reputable veterinarians. Finally, one of them asked McCracken, “How are you feeling?”

Surprised, McCracken told the vet about her extreme fatigue, mysterious pains and very severe migraines.

She was even experiencing moments in which she lost vision in one of her eyes for a few minutes. She had been suffering a lot over the past few months and no one could find anything wrong with her.

“There may be a gas leak where you live,” said the veterinarian.

The same day, McCracken called the gas company. So they went to the location and discovered that the furnace in her apartment was producing carbon monoxide and it was making her sick. Naturally, the problem was also affecting his dog’s health.

Sometimes the connection is obvious. Another situation that proves that your dog’s health reflects your health occurred when a veterinarian walked into an exam room and came across an obese Labrador. Soon after, he noticed that his owner was also very overweight.

So, this veterinarian decided to suggest that the dog’s owner acquire healthier habits – and, consequently, transfer these habits to his Labrador.

A year later, the dog’s owner had lost about 20 pounds and the dog also became thinner.

It is estimated that about 6 in 10 infectious diseases that humans get can be passed to animals. The opposite can also happen, so it is very important to pay attention to your dog’s health.

In many cases, the symptoms are quite similar. A dog with ringworm, for example, will have rashes, vomiting and diarrhea just like you would.

Disease can often be a one-way street and be passed in only one direction. Well-meaning people smoke outdoors to protect their pets, but they don’t realize that nicotine remains on their hands and this, in turn, can cause skin problems and even cancer in their pets.

Learning about this and other links between human health and animal health can be powerful motivation to stay healthy.

When you embark on a journey together with your pet, you have a purpose – and you have each other. Never stop paying attention to your dog’s health. He is a living being and deserves affection and care.
