The beaches in Fortaleza are extensive, in total there are 25 km of coastal area, some of them in themselves are 8 km long and are divided into tents, boardwalks, wide strips of sand, sports courts, among other attractions. These options are what most attract visitors, since bathing on most beaches is not recommended due to pollution, such as Meireles, Iracema and Mucuripe beaches. The most suitable for swimming in the capital is the structured Praia do Futuro and the beautiful beaches to the north, east and west in neighboring cities.
Iracema
The wide promenade on this beach is a great idea for running and walking while overlooking a sea of strong waves. Although inviting, the waters are not suitable for bathing due to existing pollution. However, at night the beach becomes a haven for young people with the presence of bars that open their doors to welcome tourists and natives. From there it is possible to enjoy the sunset from the Metallic Bridge, also known as Ponte dos Ingleses, which overlooks a beautiful coastal landscape.

Meireles
It is one of the most family-friendly beaches in the capital. This is due to the extensive infrastructure that the beach offers, such as walking promenades, sports courts, trees on the shore that provide great shade, a crafts fair and a wide range of hotels around. Due to rock formations and pollution, the sea is unsuitable for swimming. One of the highlights of this beach is the gastronomy, as countless stalls are there side by side. They are privileged to be close to the Fish Market, so they usually prepare snacks based on fish and seafood at honest prices.
Mucuripe
Despite being urbanized because it is in the central area, this beach looks more like one located in a fishing village, far from everything and everyone. This feeling comes from the landscape made up of soft sand, coconut trees, sports courts and colorful rafts. A port located there brings together sailboats that depart from there for tours along the coast, taking tourists to enchanted settings. The Fish Market is also nearby, so take the opportunity to enjoy the delicacies.
Future beach
This extensive beach occupies 8 km of the capital’s entire coastline and receives millions of tourists throughout the year. Ceará’s preference is due to the beach being perfect for swimming, unlike some other polluted beaches in the center. The boardwalks bring together a thousand and one stalls to sample local cuisine and also other services such as a beauty salon and Internet café, all without leaving the beach. Fresh water showers are also available there. The natural beauty is due to the dunes, strong waves and white sand. The buzz increases on Thursday night when there are forró shows, nightclubs and humorous performances. It is 11 km from the center.

Porto das Dunas
Dunes and lagoons surround this beach located north of Fortaleza. There is an excellent infrastructure of hotels, inns, residential condominiums and water parks. The most famous of them is Beach Park, a park that occupies 700 meters of the beach and has 17 attractions, including swimming pools, sports courts and a playground. It’s one of the best programs for families, as it brings everything together in one place.
Morro Branco Beach
Perfect for swimming, this beach is home to white cliffs and dunes that look like they came out of postcards or scenes from a soap opera. The stalls are also one of the main attractions. It is far from the capital, 80 km, in the municipality of Beberibe.
Fontes Beach
In Beberibe, this beach far from Fortaleza is worth it for its set of colorful cliffs, a set of sweet lagoons, immense dunes and water sources for invigorating baths.
Sabiaguara
Located 20 km from Fortaleza, in the municipality of Icaraí de Amontoada, is this beach full of greenery, coconut trees, calm waters and soft sand. The stalls often serve fresh, well-seasoned oysters and crabs.
Abreulândia
Almost arriving in Aquiraz, you will find this beach surrounded by 8 km of dunes. The Pacoti River crosses the sea, delimiting the border between Fortaleza and Aquiraz. It is 24 km from the center.
Hunting and fishing
An old Hunting and Fishing club was located here, hence the name of the beach. It is close to the Cocó River and is home to calm coves and dark sands. It is 15 km from the center.
little beach
Located 40 km from the capital, it houses a practically untouched scenery during the week and full of people on the weekends. The surrounding sand and dunes are ideal for hiking and diving in the water, as well as buggy rides. At low tide, the natural pools that are formed invite you to take a relaxing swim. Around stalls with tasty snacks and the Rendeiras Center are the attractions.
Cumbuco
The landscape is home to coconut trees, dunes and delightful lagoons. It is ideal for practicing water sports due to the good winds that blow there, such as kiting, paragliding and windsurfing. It is also suitable for raft rides, the fun skibunda and buggies that lead to the Paranamirim and Banana lagoons. The latter is packed on weekends when tourists come to take boat rides, jet skis, banana boats, kayaks and wind boards. Ecotourism can be done on Morro da Barriga and Parque das Dunas. Numerous tents are located there, mainly in Barra do Cauípe. The beautiful sunset can be enjoyed on the Cauípe River that flows there. Located 30 km away, in Caucaia.
Jacarecanga
Close to the center, the beach, despite not being recommended for swimming, has a kart track nearby that provides fun moments.
Pirambu
With calm seas, it is perfect for observing the landscape and moments of contemplation, as bathing is impossible due to pollution.
Goibaieras
Just 5 km from the center, this beach brings together dunes and thick dark sand. Bathing is permitted, except near the mouth of the Ceará River where pollution is evident.
Barra do Ceará
Like most beaches in Fortaleza, this one is unsuitable for swimming. However, the attraction is the ruins of the Forte de Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres located there, part of which is buried by the dunes. Colorful reefs can also be found in Barra do Ceará, which is 8 km from the center.
