Quiet, Cabrália differs in calm from neighboring Porto Seguro. There, the beaches stand out among the attractions such as Coroa Vermelha, which was the landmark of the first mass said in Brazil and with landscapes surrounded by reefs and Atlantic forest vegetation.
This same beach is famous for being just a few steps away from craft shops with impeccable Pataxó Indian products made from seeds, feathers and wood. Other beaches as beautiful as Coroa Vermelha and even more deserted are available on the coast.
It’s worth a trip to the Coroa Alta Marine Park, one of the most incredible reefs in Bahia and to Fazenda Mãe Tereza with interesting family leisure options. One last tour to take is through the historic center admiring the charming old buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Historic center
In the highest part of Cabrália is its historic center. There are historical buildings preserved since the 17th and 18th centuries. In addition to architectural knowledge, from the top you can enjoy a beautiful view of the coast.
Among the buildings, highlights include the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Church and the Town Hall and Jail House. The church includes a nave, chancel, sacristies, corridors and the tower from which the coastal landscape can be seen.
Coroa Alta Marine Park
The tour through the park begins at the port of Santa Cruz Cabrália on the banks of the João de Tiba River and goes to Recife de Coroa Alta, where multicolored corals can be seen at low tide, where charismatic fish welcome observers. The tour lasts one day, from 10am to 5pm.
The route to Recife de Coroa Alta is hectic, with attentive monitors and axé music as ambient sound. The tour has a stop on the way back for delicious food in the village of Santo André and another stop at Ilha do Sol to buy artisanal sweets and also a different mud bath in the mangrove forest.
Mother Tereza Farm
This coconut farm is nothing more than an ecological park 2 km from the center. The large space hosts countless sports and leisure activities for tourists and their families.
It is recommended to set aside a day to enjoy the coconut farm, as there are many activity options: trails and walks through the Atlantic forest, horse riding, river bathing, artisanal fishing and even some extreme sports such as zip lining and kayaking. In addition, it is possible to take a class about Brazilian fauna and flora by observing the cashew trees, palm trees, piassava and coconut trees. Some small animals may also appear along the way. It is on Perpedigno Ricaldi Street.
Pataxó Crafts
The little shops with craft items produced with mastery by the Pataxó Indians are located around Coroa Vermelha beach, in Praça da Cruz where typical craft fairs are also organized.
There are several pieces made by the Pataxó Indians: necklaces and earrings made from açaí seeds, straw lamps, kitchen utensils, decorative objects, typical clothing and even some items from indigenous culture such as headdresses and tribal weapons. Wooden pieces made with troughs and pestles are the best-selling.
