Toys are used to help ensure the physical and mental well-being of pets and keep them healthy. In rabbits, they help exercise their natural behaviors such as chewing, digging and even climbing objects.
You can easily find many models of toys for rabbits, check out the our list:
Chew toys
Rabbits’ teeth grow continually and chew toys help protect their teeth from wear and tear, prevent them from chewing on the cage or something inappropriate, as these toys are more inviting to nibble on.
The most common are made of wood, but it is important to ensure that the wood is of quality and contains nothing toxic. Vegetables can also be used as chew toys and help keep rabbits’ teeth healthy, as well as serving as food.
Digging Toys for Rabbits
Most rabbits love to dig, but this depends on the individual animal. An easy way for your rabbit to play digging is to take a wooden box and fill it with dirt. Another option is to give the animal a piece of carpet or something similar, so that it can scratch.
Toy balls
Balls help rabbits exercise, and any type can be attractive to the little animals. Just like chew toys, it is important to ensure that toy balls are not made from anything toxic, as they could cause harm to your bunny.
Foam balls or balls that break easily are not good because the rabbit can chew them and even accidentally ingest them, while those made from plant material are nutritious and also stimulate cognition.
Avoid running toy balls, like those used for hamsters, because they are bad for rabbits as they can cause spinal damage, and rabbits are often frightened and confused by them.
Climbing toys
Climbing toys can be any object that gives the rabbit the opportunity to climb up and down, it can even be multi-story. Set up a structure with boxes, ramps and passages between them.
For your pet’s safety, it is always important to ensure that toys are made of non-toxic material for rabbits, and at a comfortable and safe height for animals.
Tunnels
Tunnels for rabbits are similar to those purchased for cats. They are among the best toys as rabbits love to run around.
It is important that the tunnels are not too complicated, so the rabbit does not get scared or get lost. You can also connect the tunnels and make a maze.
Toys can help relieve stress and boredom, which is why they are so important. In addition to being fun and making animals happier and healthier, you can even make homemade toys.
