Penile bioplasty, also called penis filling, is an aesthetic procedure that aims to increase the diameter of the penis through the application of substances to this organ, such as polymethyl methacrylate, popularly known as PMMA.
Despite being a simple and quick procedure, it is not recommended by the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery, as it has risks that are related to the quality and quantity of the substance applied, which can result in a serious inflammatory process, increased risk of infection and necrosis. of the organ. Therefore, it is important that penile bioplasty is well thought out and that men know the risks associated with the procedure.

How penile bioplasty is performed
Penile bioplasty must be carried out by a trained professional, preferably a plastic surgeon, as despite being a simple procedure, it is delicate and precise, and lasts around 30 to 60 minutes. To perform bioplasty, local anesthesia must be performed and the penis must be erect so that the applied substance can spread evenly throughout the penis.
The substance applied may vary according to the location of application, that is, if the man’s desire is to increase the diameter of the glans, hyaluronic acid is normally applied, as this is a more sensitive region and this substance can be absorbed by the body, while for the rest of the penis PMMA is used to thicken it. It is also possible for the person’s own fat to be applied to thicken the penis, but this procedure is rarer. Furthermore, the amount of substance to be applied can vary according to how much you want to thicken, which can result in an increase of up to 5 cm in diameter.
Despite being a quick, simple procedure that does not require cuts, it is not without risks and has a high cost, which can vary from 2,000 to 20,000 reais depending on the professional who will perform the procedure, the location where it will be applied and quantity of the substance.
Furthermore, like any aesthetic procedure, bioplasty has risks, mainly related to the quantity and quality of the substance applied, which can result in excessive inflammatory response, infections, formation of nodules, risk of rejection of the substance by the body and necrosis, for example. Therefore, to minimize risks, it is recommended that bioplasty be carried out only by experienced professionals and in a safe and appropriate environment.

What is recovery like?
After undergoing bioplasty, the man can now go home and continue his daily activities without any problems, however it is recommended that he not have sexual intercourse for around 30 to 60 days, according to medical advice, to prevent results are compromised and there are deformities over time.
Despite being a low-risk procedure, it is important to be aware of any changes in the penis and the application site, going to the doctor if any signs or symptoms appear that could be indicative of infection, for example.
