Ulmaria, also known as elm-herb, queen-of-the-meadow or bee-herb, is a medicinal plant used for colds, fever, rheumatic diseases, kidney and bladder diseases, cramps, gout and relief from migraines.

Ulmaria is a plant from the rosacea family with a height between 50 and 200 cm, with yellow or whitish flowers and its scientific name is Filipendula ulmária.

Ulmaria is used to treat colds, fever, rheumatism, kidney and bladder diseases, cramps, gout and relieve migraines.

Ulmaria properties

Ulmaria has properties with antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, diuretic, sweating, and febrifuge properties, which reduce fever.

How to use ulmária

The parts used are the flowers and, occasionally, the entire plant.

  • For tea: Add 1 tablespoon of lemon balm to a cup of boiling water. Leave to cool, strain and drink afterwards.

Side effects

The side effects of lemon balm include gastrointestinal problems in case of excessive dosage.

Contraindications of ulmaria

Ulmaria is contraindicated in people with hypersensitivity to salicylates, which is one of the plant’s constituents, and in pregnancy, as it can induce labor.
