Tour through Argentinian wineries

South America

Mendoza is a city located in the west of Argentina, next to the Cordilheira dos Andes, which is attracting more and more attention from Brazilians. Veja nesse post or let’s do it for the first time on our first day of travel and confira boas dicas de passeio pelas Argentinian wineries!

Passeio pelas Argentinian wineries from Mendoza – Day 1

With 1,200 wineries – either small or multinational –, in the highest mountain setting on the continent, Mendoza brings together in the same destination wine and snow, two favorite subjects of Brazilians looking to Argentina to attend the fairs. Apart from the wineries, the city also offers many attractive attractions, such as luxurious hotels, good gastronomy, incredible landscapes, radical sports, ski resorts, historical monuments and typical events of local culture.

Self-titled Terra do Sol e do Bom Vinho, the region is the most important winegrowing center in South America. Many of its charming wineries receive visitors in facilities in the Central Valley – a sector that includes the municipalities of Godoy Cruz, Guaymallén, Maipú and Luján de Whose –, including tastings. Thanks to the combination of dry climate and excellent quality of grapes such as Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Chardonnay, local products are appreciated worldwide.

I traveled with my wife Letícia to the house of friends César and Fernanda to discover the region, drink wine, eat well, and tan all the charm of the region! We had a sunny day (although we took chances, we say that it is very rare to date or time), but we took advantage of it very much as well!

Transport

As our initial plan was to visit the wineries and enjoy a lot of the tastings, we decided to hire a transfer service. If you prefer a car – if you want to do this, we recommend Rentcars and Rental Cars, two super trustworthy and reliable companies.

We hire the services of Leonardo Harth da Mendoza Transfers and we indicate muito or serviço. Super attentive, please send us a good price and an excellent indication from Simone, part of the blog for Lear Travel! At the wineries, we didn’t see any cars, the entire world of transfers – the wineries weren’t signalized and our motor was lost – and I wish the face was experienced! O Luciano, our motorist, looked for us in the hotel and the tours with a company that were personalized, exclusive and without that agony of groups, waiting for people in the hotel, delays. The company still has a group of 11 cars and four vans with adega (the only ones in Argentina). We adore or serve you!

We have a scheduled visit to the Diamandes winery and we are super excited. Now we need a bucket of cold water: our visit had been canceled because the people who received us had a health problem. We will be questioned why you didn’t notify us before, we know that we will send an e-mail to César on the previous night, at 11:30 p.m.… That’s complicated, isn’t it? Without hiding our disappointment as the sudden cancellation and at the top of the day, we decided to visit another winery that is part of Clos de Los Siete along with Diamades: Monteviejo. The Clos de Los Siete is an initiative by winemaker Michel Rolland that brings together seven nearby wineries – all very modern and with the best reputation in the wine world.

Monteviejo

Let’s have a pleasant surprise in Mendoza! We are very well received by Luis, who told us about wine history and, mainly, led a spectacular tasting with the best wines, perhaps the best that we tasted in Mendoza!

Catherine Péré-Vergé, a native of Monteviejo, began her history in viticulture when she was barely 19 years old and was originally from France, when she acquired ownership of Château Montviel in the Pomerol region. Friend of Michel Rolland, she became interested in South America and acquired the lands around Monteviejo. Catherine was so impressed with the winery that she was the first to build it in Clos de Los Siete! The winery began to be built in 2001 and was first planted in 2002 – there, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Chardonnay are planted.

Oh, and we also heard about the famous Monteviejo Wine Rock festival, whose seventh edition took place in April this year, with very quality rock n’roll. Who knows we paint in Mendoza next year for tanning or festival?

O.Fournier

Founded in 2000, O.Fournier is a contemporary winery in the Uco Valley that is simply spectacular! We were very well received, divine landscape, food harmonized with the wines… Perfect! The restaurant’s modern architecture is incredible. It really is a very different place with remarkable certainty. Fora a vista that you have something for the cordilheiras that is a spectacle.

Our lunch was spectacular, very tasty food and highlights for the beetroot starter, Textured Corn in the main dish, Pork Fetas – check out the two dishes in the photos below. 🙂

There is an exhibition of works of art in the cellar and barnacles that the winery thought of details to welcome tourists. In the future it will have a hotel and lots for sale so that you want to have your own vineyard. It is worth including no seu roteiro!

Where we stayed in Mendoza

Do you want to make an unforgettable trip from Mendoza? Fique stayed at The Vines Resort & Spa! The resort is located about 120km from Mendoza, surrounded by nature and with absolutely modern, comfortable and beautiful facilities. I knew that the experience of staying there would be great, but The Vines managed to surprise me even more! If you want, you can buy a piece of land and grow your grapes to make your own wine – the idea is “pegou” so much so that, here, it brings together 180 producers!

The architectural project of the premises is spectacular and daily costs around U$ 600 for two people – it is a high standard resort that offers an impeccable service from the start of the fim and everything is so perfect that it doesn’t give the best price, I confess . We worked very hard at each cantinho – a shame that, on this first day, the sun did not appear then we could not see Cordilheira in all its splendor.

Apart from all the charm and comfort of your homes, you will be able to enjoy the pool, or spa, ride a bike and drink the best wines while enjoying the Cordilheira dos Andes! Note-I know that the structure of the place was carefully thought out to offer what is best in accommodation in Mendoza and it is worth spending a night staying there – or many, if you have the right conditions, of course! 🙂

Seven Fires*

Internationally acclaimed chef Francis Mallmann creates regionally inspired dishes, showcasing famous Argentinian steaks, in a restaurant located within The Vines in a superb atmosphere! The name Siete Fuegos, or “seven fogos”, reveals the perfected culinary techniques of Francis Mallmann on open chama, inspired by Argentine gaúchos and European immigrants, refined by hundreds of years of history. The menu evolves by season, in harmony with local and natural ingredients, incorporating famous Argentine meat, fish and salty dishes.

Starters of delicious pães and depois burrata with pears! For the main dish I ordered rib eye, which was very good. Letícia asked for appetizers – she said that the meat was very tough and the dish was tasty! There, let’s get the dishes ready. The wine list, excellent, caters to all tastes – we drink the best Memories, produced itself in The Vines..

O Siete Fuegos was an experience of aromas and flavors, two foods with various preparation times in the fire and together with nature, vines and Andes mountain range – nothing to miss on your trip to Mendoza!
