One of the greatest symbols of USA it’s from New York and the Statue of Liberty. But anyone who thinks that you can see it from various points in the city is mistaken. To see the monument up close, you need to take a boat and there are two tour options for this. One, which is paid, and the other, for free. See the differences
TOUR PAGO
Let’s start by talking about paid tour. With tickets costing $18 for adultsalready including the audio tour, the tour starts at Battery Park (New York) on a ferry that crosses the river towards the statue. As I went at the height of summer, the queue was quite long. Even so, it doesn’t take that long because there are plenty of seats on the ferry, which leave every 30 minutes. There is also the possibility of boarding the Liberty State Parkem New Jersey.
A tip is to go before 11am to avoid long queues and be able to visit the freedom island e Ellis Island. As I went after 2pm, when it is also busiest, I was only able to visit Ilha da Liberdade, as after this time they limit visits to this island.
And on Ellis Island what is the Immigration Museumit was there that millions of foreigners entered the United States.
During the crossing to the Liberty Island It is now possible to take good photos of the statue and see it from the front and back. From there, the view from there is also worth it. New York. You can take good photos.
It is also possible to climb up to the Crown, but most who have been say it’s not worth it. In addition to having to pay extra for the ticket, reservations are very limited.
We took the tour using our City Passwhich includes a visit to the Statue of Liberty.

FREE TOUR
Now that we’ve talked about the paid tour, let’s talk about the free. There is a ferry that leaves very close to the Battery Park toward Staten Island. There are no tickets to use this form of transport, it is completely free and leaves every half hour.
On the way, which lasts about 25 minutes, it is possible to see the Statue of Liberty relatively close up and also take good photos of the buildings in New York. However, the ferry does not stop at Liberty Island. So, tourists have to be content with seeing the statue just from the ferry.
One positive point is that the raft has an open part. So, you can take some photos without the glasses. Other tip Take the ferry back as soon as you arrive on the island so you don’t have to spend half an hour waiting for the next one.
There is subway stations which are located very close to where the two ferries leave, the free one and the paid one.
WHICH IS MORE WORTH IT?
We have already done both tours. If you really need to save money, at least take the free ferry, but we prefer the paid tour. Although people say it’s not worth it, it was great to be able to stop at Liberty Island and see the Statue of Liberty up close. In addition to the photos we took of New York from the island.
