There are several ways to buy your ticket to the Universal parks in Orlando. You can look for travel agencies in Brazil, companies that provide services in Orlando or leave it to get entry at the park ticket offices. The first two options may contain fees or commissions that will make the ticket more expensive and also have the inconvenience of having to pick up the ticket or wait for it to arrive by mail, which can be expensive and time-consuming. If you leave it to buy at the ticket office, you may have to face huge queues and waste a lot of the time you would have to visit the attractions. Therefore, I believe that the most practical way to buy Universal tickets is to do everything yourself, through the park’s official website.
In addition to doing everything online, you already finish the process with your ticket in hand, you don’t run the risk of hiring a scam company to do the service and you also save $20 compared to the box office price for multi-day tickets. Of course, not everything is rosy and this method also has its disadvantages. The main one is that the amount can only be paid with an international credit card and without the option of installments (which could be offered by travel agencies in Brazil). Convinced? Let’s go step by step.
Attention: It is not a good idea to travel to the United States without international health insurance, as hospital costs there are very high. Read here how to find cost-effective insurance.
Understand the types of tickets
One Park
In this modality you can visit only one park per day. For example, if I used it at Universal Studios today, I will only be able to visit Island of Adventure tomorrow. You can buy tickets for one, two, three or four days, and you have 14 consecutive days, from the first use, to make all the visits you are entitled to. I found this to be the best option because, in addition to being cheaper, I think it is very difficult to visit more than one park per day.
Park-to-Park
Park-to-park tickets allow you to visit more than one park on the same day. You can go to Universal Studios in the morning, for example, and later switch to Island of Adventure. It could be a good option if you only want to see a few specific attractions in one of the parks. However, visiting both entire parks in just one day can be very busy, especially if the queues are long. There are options for one, two, three or four days. If you purchase a ticket for two or more days, you will have 14 consecutive days, counting from the first use, to make your visits.
2-Park Bonus Ticket
Entitles you to unlimited visits to Universal Studios and Island of Adventure parks for 14 consecutive days, starting from the first day of use. This means that you can, with this ticket, visit the parks as many times as you want within the time limit.
3-Unlimited Park Ticket
Gives unlimited access to Universal Studios, Island of Adventure and Wet n’ Wild parks for 14 consecutive days.
Orlando Flex Ticket
Gives unlimited access to five parks: Universal Studios, Island of Adventure, Wet n’ Wild, Sea World and Aquatica. It could be a good option in terms of cost-benefit if you are going to visit all these parks.
Orlando Flex Ticket Plus
Gives unlimited access to six parks: Universal Studios, Island of Adventure, Wet n’ Wild, Sea World, Aquatica and Bush Gardens. It could be a good option in terms of cost-benefit if you are going to visit all these parks.
ATTENTION: Some ticket types are only available on the English website. This is the case with single park tickets.
Universal parks in Orlando: buying tickets
1. The best place to buy Universal Studios tickets is on the official website. Use this link and enter how many days you intend to visit the parks and how many adults and children are traveling with you. It is not to inform you how many days you will be in Orlando, but how many days you will visit the Universal Parks. (If you want to buy on the website in Portuguese, click here).
2. A calendar will open for you to enter the date of your trip. This is because, not long ago, Universal started charging different entrance fees depending on the season of visit. If you go in high season, you will pay more.
3. Now you choose whether you want the Park-to-Park ticket, which allows you to enter more than one park on the same day and, therefore, use the Hogwarts Express. Or One Park (previously called Single Park) which only allows you to visit one park each day.
4. The next page will show several options for extras that you can add:
Universal Express Passes: The famous queue jumpers. You can enter the attractions without facing the huge queues that form. I recommend it for high season, vacations, holidays and weekends. I went in low season (mid-May) and had no problem with queues. It was all very fast.
Wet’n Wild Orlando Waterpark: Adds entrance to Wet’n Wild water park.
Universal Photo Connect Star Card: Adds a photo package from your days in the park with unlimited downloads and two printed photos.
Dining Deals: Allows you to purchase meals in advance and save time and pocket change.
Cinematic Spetacular Dining: Dinner at the restaurant Lombard’s Seafood Grille overlooking the park. You must reserve by phone after purchase.
Superstar Character Breakfast: Breakfast with Universal Studios characters. You also need to reserve.
Halloween Horror Nights: Adds entry to the Halloween event.
Blue Man Group Tickets: Adds entry for Blue Man Group performance.
CityWalk® Dining, Movies, Mini-Golf & More: Adds entrance to CityWalk, an entertainment area with restaurants, bars, cinema and mini golf.
3. Click next and you will see a summary of your purchase. In the “Select Delivery Options” field, choose “Print at Home” to print your ticket at home. A green button labeled “Assign Tickets” will appear. You need to click on it and enter the name and surname of the people who will use the tickets you are buying. Tickets are personal and non-transferable. After that, fill in your email in the indicated field and click next again.
4. Now just enter your payment details and address
5 – If everything went well with the payment, you should receive an email confirming the purchase and a PDF file with the ticket. Print this file and present it at the park with an identification document. There is no need to change at the ticket office. This document is your entry to the park.
That’s all, folks!
