Historic Center of Mexico City, one of the most beautiful

North America

O Historic center and Mexico City It is one of the most beautiful and preserved in Latin America. The metropolis that appears at the top of the world’s largest cities has spread wildly around it, but has managed to preserve it and integrate it into modern days.

The visit normally starts at Plinth, name given to the main square of practically every Mexican city. The good thing is that there is a station of the same name on site.

The large open area, surrounded by buildings of Spanish architecture reminiscent of Madrid, hosts numerous events throughout the year, as well as popular demonstrations. The first time I was in Mexico City, the place was the stage for the Fifa Fanfest, in the World Cup. The second time, in winter, the Zócalo was transformed into a huge ice skating rink with a free road.

Around the square, what draws the most attention is the grandiose Catedral Metropolitana, which is well worth a visit. Next to it is the archaeological site of Main templean important temple of the Aztec Empire.

Also around the Zócalo, in addition to many bars, shops and restaurants, is the National Palace, seat of the Executive Branch. The imposing building has a beautiful garden and museum, both open to visitors.

You can get lost in the alleys of the Historic Center of Mexico City for a whole day, depending on the type of visit you like to make. If you go until the end of the afternoon, take the opportunity to visit the Garibaldi Square and watch the shows of mariachisthose typical Mexican singers, or visit the Tequila and Mezcal Museum and taste the different types of drinks.

HISTORIC CENTER OF MEXICO CITY

Best way to get there: By subway
Seasons: Zócalo, Allende and Bellas Artes
Is it worth staying here? I have already stayed in the region once. During the day it is very good, close to everything. But at night it is very deserted, it can give a feeling of insecurity. Prefer Pink Zone, Polancoor the region of Paseo Reforma.
