San Ángel, a charming colonial neighborhood in Mexico City

North America

Little known, Saint Angel is a neighborhood in Mexico City which soon conquers for its colonial mansions, history, craft fairs, bars and restaurants. In fact, it is part of the district of Alvaro Obregonin the metropolitan region of the Mexican capital.

Even with the city’s growth, the place maintains its provincial charm, with colonial architecture, winding streets, colorful buildings and stone pavements.

The best day to visit San Ángel is on weekends, especially Saturdays, when the neighborhood’s squares are filled with craft fairs and art exhibitions.

But the most famous market in San Ángel is the The Saturday Bazaarin front of San Jacinto Square. As the name suggests, the gallery with several craft stores is open every Saturday, from 10am to 5pm. There is a pretty courtyard with a restaurant. But just like in the little shops, the prices for those who want to eat there are well above the average for the rest of the neighborhood.
