Tulum is a famous archaeological site in Mexico located south of Cancun e Carmen beach. Another historic place, the Mayan walled city was built on the seafront, in the middle of Caribbean Mexican.
Discovered in 1518, Tulum is today one of the country’s main tourist destinations. Despite the large number of visitors, it is still possible to enter its anise-blue waters and admire the ruins of the ancient city. A unique experience!

HOW TO GET
Tulum is 132km south of Cancún, passing through Playa del Carmen (60km). To get there, the most common way is to embark on a day tour to the site or go by rented car. By bus, you can go with the ADO company (if you are taking a shuttle, ask the driver to get off at the ruins and not in the center of the village).
IS IT OK TO SLEEP?
There are good hotels in Tulum, but they are no more rustic than in famous neighboring cities, such as Playa del Carmen. Some have views of the blue sea. Don’t expect much excitement if you decide to stay. If you want to avoid the tour groups that flock to the ruins, consider sleeping in the village and visiting them in the morning.

WHEN TO GO
It’s hot all year round, but between February and May you can escape the rains and hurricanes. Hurricane season runs from August to November, but the chance of you catching a devastating one is rare. July and December are good months, although with some chance of rainy days.
